With only my weak understanding of Latin, "libertas" would be relevant to "freedom," whereas "gratia (or something like that)" would be relevant to "free," as in something given, like a favor. Like "liberty" and "gratuity." Therefore, Smitty's onto something. |

^Not only that...El Condado mofado translates as something like "the mocked county". I think it should have been more like "El mofado de Boone". arriba, also means up or above. |

But bad grammar Spanish is better than no Spanish at all, and, let's face it, no one was about to translate it personally. |

There are people here that know both languages well enough to do this fairly quickly. It's about caring enough to do something for someone else, and taking the time to DO IT DECENTLY (or at least say "I used an on-line translator that screws things up"). |

^ Very accurate! I just think "any questions" is "cualquier preguntas". If I'm wrong, please correct me, as I haven't spoken Spanish in some time. |

And, for your information, online translators may suck, but if you think about it, when other people who are just learning to speak our language don't know very much about grammar we can still understand perfectly well what they're saying, so how is this in any way different? And I was just posting that because no one had posted yet and I figured if someone who could do it better came along, they would do it too, thus my post would cause no damage, but apparently what I posted didn't get that message across. I suppose what I implied was that I knew everything and that my translation would be 100% accurate and that I would scratch your eyes out if you tried to do it yourself.<font color=space>sweden_man wrote:After only four hours you come to this conclusion? You didn't say that it was from a translator. If I were quickly scanning it - yeah, it looks like Spanish, maybe I or someone else wouldn't have bothered to try a "real" translation. And this is for an organisation - not her wanting to know how to say, "Soy estupida y no hablo español - ¿Hablas ingles? Y dónde está el baño?" - it should have DECENT grammar. And trust me, translators can murder things beyond understanding... It's a popular game on some forums - you translate to a language and translate back and it's so funny-haha because it makes no sense at all. |
