HI everybody!
I'm a new member of queenzone. I've just watched the
new dvd (new in France..)about Freddie's life "lover of life, singer of songs". I find it very interesting, it shows Freddie's life not only by Queen but all his childhood, his friends.
I'm a real fan, i thought i knew all about Freddie but i was wrong!!!Have you watched this dvd?
Does it have that same annoying piano playing throughout? That was the only thing I didn't like. Really didn't like. The first couple go 'rounds are ok, but it just keeps on and on... Somebody shoot the piano player.
Don´t shoot me, I´m only the piano player! hahaha
I guess some parts are a bit different... the one released in 2000 for The Solo Collection ended with the No One But You video... the new one ends with In My Defence... am I wrong?

Yes, you are. Why should that film ends with Queen song? In both cases it was In My Defence.
Piano players are Thierry Lang and Mike Moran
I believe the piano background music remains about the same, though I actually like it so I haven't listened to it with the angle of hoping there was less.
There is a different narrator and some new footage throughout, but it's not like added on.. it's more like replacing other stuff because the running time remains very close to the original.
I like both versions.. heck I liked the TV version too. It's hard to say which of the full-length versions I prefer. Right now the new one since it's new.. but in the future when I watch it a few times a year I'll probably alternate :)
I just think this is Do Ro's finest work.. yes, their collage videos got to be annoying after awhile but this is genuinely a tasteful, beautifully shot documentary.
The only thing I would have done differently is perhaps cut down the childhood segment a little.. in fact I hope this new film that's being made doesn't spend too much time on Freddie's childhood being re-enacted, because we've already seen plenty of it ;)
