I have a fear of ending up in a nursing home where Muzak is heard 24/7, and it is all old time (polkas, schottisches, etc.) Oh, dear. Have you ever heard rock 'n roll in a nursing home? I am 62 and "discovered" Queen not until I was 60! (I must have been brain dead all of those years.) One advantage is that via eBay I don't have to wait until Queen releases a single or an album as in the days when they were together. Thank SOMEONE for eBay! Yes, I Want It All. So, I have all manner of Queen stuff, and I love every bit of it. I have many pictures of Freddie on my walls. (Most females go through this stage when they are teenagers. I guess I am a late bloomer.) My friends and family think I am obsessed (which is true), and they roll their eyes when I talk about my favorite subject. And... I saw Queen+Paul when they came to St. Paul, Minnesota, at the Excel which is only four miles from my home. (I considered this The Miracle.) I couldn't have been more thrilled! Queen, you make me so very happy, I just go out of my mind. |

Was that you? Hey, at least NOW you have time to enjoy life and music in general!! And you´re not old, you only have more 3 years than Brian! You could be in Queen ; ) Take care |

Ready_Coddie wrote: yeah but theres a great chance you can drop dead anytimeNo offense taken. Oh, dear. I don't have anyone designated in my will to get my Queen collection. Can I instruct my relatives to give it to you, p l e a s e ? But I do have listed cremation, no church service, and four Queen songs to be played: Another One Bites The Dust (a little sick humor here), Made In Heaven (from the solo collection), Guide Me Home (with Caballe), and The Show Must Go On. Whether my relatives will do it or not is another matter! |

paintball wrote: Congrats for discovering Queen but what have you been listening to all those years? snoop dogg??It makes you wonder, doesn't it? As a social commentary, I respect hip hop, but it bores me to death. My favorite genre is Classic Rock. Every now and then I think I should get some culture, and there is a local church that brings in classical musicians, and the concerts are free. However, mid-way I am bored, and I feel sorry for the musicians that have to rehearse and play it. (I know they love it.) Growing up, we never had music playing in the house. If the radio was on, it was set to the news. (Radio Ga-Ga.) I can remember getting our first tv and wondering what in the world is this odd-shaped thing? There were few stations, maybe even one, and most of the time there was nothing on that one station. Instead there would be a static black and white graphic that said "test pattern." Way back then, American radio DJs were racist, sexist, and misogynist, and I couldn't stand listening to their drivel. I haven't listened to radio for probably 40 years, and I never have it on when I am driving. There is just something about talking voices that grates on my nerves. I have a pile of moldy 12" albums in a back closet somewhere. With the advent of cable I now have Music Choice. Dedicated stations. No talking, no commercials. I love it! Until my Queen epiphany in 2004, I owned only half-a-dozen other cds. So, my Queen obsession is a very strange and wonderful thing. Thank god for eBay!!! I have a Queen vhs (Hyde Park, I think) that has tacked on the end of it a tv interview with Freddie's husband, Jim Hutton, who said before he met Freddie he never had an interest in music, and after he died, he again didn't. I can relate to that. Now, however, I love all of my Queen stuff and never tire of it. It is my greatest pleasure and treasure. P.S. "carboengine" seems like a boy inferring carburetors and car engines (how sexist is a comment like that?), but it means I am a mean, lean, carbohydrate-burning body machine (don't I wish!) |

Thank god for you Carboengine I was beginning to think I was the only elder statesman around here. And if I may say very refreshing to hear that you are prepared to look into new forms of art and entertainment at your age, I know I for one am already getting to the point where I start thinking everything post 1979 was crap and policemen have for a long time looked far to young. The turning point was when I met my new bank manager and realised he was still in short trousers during live aid! Sobering indeed, go on you Carboengine go girl! |
