My offer still stands. For those of you who can stand mp3 format: I am offering to post and concert I have in mp3 format on this site. All you have to do is email me at habalushy@queenzone.com and request up to 3 concerts. Please no more than 3. Please request at least one of the following: date (at least month and year) and/or city. Please don't ask for the best sounding concert from 1978 because I don't remeber which sounds best. ALL OF MY CONCERTS I POST WILL BE IN MP3 (between 112-260kb/s) My offer stands. (I will post any Queen, Brian May, Roger Taylor, The Cross, Q+PR and other Queen related bootlegs that I have) |

The least GH could have done is help habalushy by providing a list of concert ratings. My top 100 list of Queen concerts was mostly substantiated by compiling the ratings of 7 different people (Tatterdemalion, Harry, Trancer, Mr Scully, Hangman, Tilo Magnet and Guitar Hero), and summarizes the ratings of the 7 people into 3 columns: "x" - Number of people who rated the concert EX- or better. "+" - Number of people who rated the concert VG+ or better. "#" - Number of people who rated the concert (Most concerts were not rated by all 7 people). ... x + # Concert 7 7 7 1973-09-13 AA++ London 4 5 5 1974-03-31 AA++ London 0 4 5 1973-11-17 AA++ Liverpool 0 3 6 1974-04-28 AA++ Portland 0 2 4 1973-11-27 AA++ Birmingham 0 0 4 1973-11-29 AA++ Bristol 3 4 4 1975-03-07 AA++ Milwaukee 2 6 7 1975-05-01 AA++ Tokyo 1 5 7 1975-04-19 AA++ Tokyo 1 4 6 1975-03-29 AA++ Santa Monica 1 4 6 1975-04-29 AA++ Shizuoka 7 7 7 1975-12-24 AA++ London 5 6 7 1976-03-29 AA++ Osaka (night) 5 6 6 1976-03-31 AA++ Tokyo 4 5 6 1976-03-29 AA++ Osaka (day) 4 4 5 1976-04-01 & 04 AA++ Tokyo (2 show combo) 1 3 7 1976-09-18 AA++ London 1 2 6 1975-11-26 AA++ Manchester 5 6 7 1977-06-06 AA++ London 4 6 6 1977-05-12 AA++ Copenhagen 4 4 6 1977-03-13 AA++ Seattle 2 6 7 1977-05-30 AA++ Glasgow 6 6 7 1977-12-11 AA++ Houston 5 5 7 1978-04-13 AA++ Copenhagen 3 4 5 1978-04-30 AA++ Zurich 2 5 6 1978-04-23 AA++ Paris 2 4 7 1978-04-12 AA++ Stockholm 1 4 5 1978-04-28 AA++ Berlin 1 2 6 1977-12-01 AA++ New York 7 7 7 1979-04-20 AA++ Osaka 6 6 6 1978-12-07 AA++ Chicago 6 6 7 1979-12-26 AA++ London 5 6 7 1978-12-01 AA++ Montreal 4 6 7 1979-04-14 AA++ Tokyo 4 5 6 1979-04-19 AA++ Osaka 2 5 6 1979-02-01 AA++ Cologne (partial) 2 5 6 1979-02-02 AA++ Frankfort 2 4 6 1978-12-03 AA Toronto 1 2 7 1979-02-28 AA++ Paris 0 5 7 1979-05-06 AA++ Sapporo 0 1 6 1979-12-04 AA++ Newcastle 6 7 7 1980-09-10 AA++ Milwaukee 6 6 7 1980-12-08 AA++ London 6 6 6 1981-02-13 AA++ Tokyo 5 6 7 1980-09-19 AA++ Chicago 5 5 6 1981-02-28 AA++ Buenos Aires 3 6 6 1980-11-29 AA++ Essen 3 5 7 1981-03-20 AA++ Sao Paulo 3 4 6 1981-03-01 AA Buenos Aires 2 6 7 1980-07-14 AA Oakland 2 4 6 1981-02-17 AA++ Tokyo 2 3 5 1980-12-13 AA Brussels 2 3 5 1980-12-14 AA++ Frankfort 0 1 5 1981-09-27 AA++ Caracas 7 7 7 1982-06-01 AA++ Edinburgh 6 6 7 1982-05-13 AA++ Vienna 5 7 7 1982-05-12 AA++ Vienna 5 6 6 1982-10-19 AA++ Fukuoka 5 6 7 1982-10-24 AA++ Osaka 5 6 7 1982-10-26 AA++ Nagoya 4 6 7 1982-04-16 BB Zurich 4 5 6 1982-07-28 AA++ New York 4 5 6 1982-10-29 AA++ Sapporo 4 4 6 1982-08-13 AA++ Chicago 3 6 6 1982-05-03 BB Paris 3 6 7 1982-05-29 AA++ Leeds 3 5 6 1982-04-28 AA++ Frankfort 3 5 6 1982-07-21 AA++ Montreal 3 3 6 1982-09-07 AA++ Oakland 2 6 7 1982-05-01 AA++ Dortmund 2 5 6 1982-07-23 AA++ Boston 0 4 6 1982-08-09 AA++ New Jersey 7 7 7 1984-09-29 AA++ Vienna 6 6 6 1984-09-14 AA++ Milan 6 6 6 1985-05-09 AA++ Tokyo 5 6 6 1984-09-02 AA++ Birmingham 5 5 6 1984-09-15 AA++ Milan 5 5 6 1985-05-15 AA++ Osaka 4 4 4 1984-09-30 AA++ Vienna 4 4 6 1985-04-19 AA++ Melbourne 3 5 6 1984-08-31 AA++ Birmingham 3 5 6 1984-09-21 AA++ Brussels 2 5 7 1984-09-04 AA++ London 2 4 5 1984-09-01 AA++ Birmingham 2 4 5 1984-09-08 AA++ London 2 4 5 1984-09-18 AA++ Paris 2 3 6 1985-04-26 AA++ Sydney 1 2 5 1984-09-20 AA++ Leiden 6 6 7 1986-06-21 AA++ Mannheim 6 6 6 1986-06-26 AA++ Berlin 6 6 6 1986-07-21 AA++ Vienna 6 6 6 1986-07-22 AA++ Vienna 5 7 7 1986-08-01 AA++ Barcelona 4 6 6 1986-07-09 AA++ New Castle 4 5 6 1986-06-07 AA++ Stockholm 3 6 7 1986-08-09 AA++ Knebworth 3 5 7 1986-06-14 AA++ Paris 3 5 6 1986-08-03 AA++ Madrid 2 6 7 1986-07-11 AA London 1 5 6 1986-06-11 AA++ Leiden |

In fact, based on his post, it seems as if he has little interest in the overall quality of his recordings, never mind the lossy vs. lossless debate. You're really making all this way too personal. You look desperate. It's pathetic. By the way, that list of yours really isn't conclusive, because it assumes that all seven people listened to the exact same recording, which for many shows won't be the case. For example, at least one of the seven people could have had an old version of Chicago 80 that was only VG quality. The master recording really hadn't circulated much back when you compiled your data. |

GH - I do not understand how you can ride habalushy for not immediately knowing the sound quality of a concert, when all three of your recent flac shares do not list a sound quality rating (EX, Ex-, VG+, VG, VG- etc). I would suggest that you start listing the sound quality ratings of your recordings in your uploads. Lineage and lossless is all fine and dandy, but having an Ex- recording in mp3 is better than having a 1st generation lossless recording in VG+. Also, I realize my top 100 list is far from perfect, but I think it is a good starting point and provides a range of viewpoints of several people rather than just one person. For example, I thought Harry's website was best for concert ratings. However, occasionally he would rate a concert higher or lower than other people did. I think having a compliation of several people opinions provides a slightly more reliable rating. Of course, I would not mind seeing what others have done to rate concerts (without solely relying on their own opinion or one person's opinion). Any links? |

But that's completely isolated from my comments towards habalushy. He was talking about his mp3 collection, not FLACs that were shared here by me. Don't change the subject. That list is completely useless, because it doesn't say which particular version of each show the ratings are referring to. For most of those shows there are several versions in circulation, often sourced from different gen tapes. It has been common in the Queen scene to exclusively use sound quality ratings to identify a certain version of a show, which is obviously a very stupid thing to do, because quality ratings are, as opposed to lineage information, completely subjective. |

Mike Van wrote: If this list is completely useless, surely someone could name at least 10 concerts that do not belong on this top 100 list, and name at least 10 substitute concerts (with Freddie).The problem with your list is that it assumes that all recordings of each show are the exact same, and that everyone listened to that exact same recording. Bootleg recordings are far more complicated than that. I can do the first half of your request, but I'll do the opposite. Here are the only shows that should be on this list (should such a list with minimal criteria exist), simply because there are multiple recordings and versions of all the other shows: 0 4 5 1973-11-17 AA++ Liverpool 1 4 6 1975-03-29 AA++ Santa Monica 1 4 6 1975-04-29 AA++ Shizuoka 5 6 7 1976-03-29 AA++ Osaka (night) 4 4 6 1977-03-13 AA++ Seattle 4 5 6 1979-04-19 AA++ Osaka 7 7 7 1979-04-20 AA++ Osaka 0 5 7 1979-05-06 AA++ Sapporo 6 6 7 1980-12-08 AA++ London 6 6 6 1981-02-13 AA++ Tokyo 4 6 7 1982-04-16 BB Zurich 4 5 6 1982-07-28 AA++ New York 3 6 6 1982-05-03 BB Paris 3 5 6 1982-04-28 AA++ Frankfurt 2 6 7 1982-05-01 AA++ Dortmund 6 6 6 1984-09-14 AA++ Milan 3 5 6 1984-09-21 AA++ Brussels 2 6 7 1986-07-11 AA London 3 5 6 1986-08-03 AA++ Madrid All other Queen recordings have at least one more source for that show, or are known to exist in different generations of tape. These recordings I've listed are ones that have only stemmed out of a single source - and note that most of them are from a single silver release or an old LP bootleg, and haven't been altered (that I'm aware of, anyway). Check out this page of my website. It lays out all the recordings I know of, and how complicated it all is. I haven't updated in a couple months, but it's still a good idea of everything: link If you're going to make a list of the best recordings, you'll need to differentiate the recordings better. Simply listing a date and venue does not provide enough information to uniquely identify a recording. This is why we should distribute recordings with lineage information. Date, venue, tape generation, silver release info (if applicable), and even equipment used to transfer the recording should all figure into a recording's identification. This is how we should take care of our recordings, and how we can be exactly sure of which recording is which. |

I did? That was not my intent. All I did was list the best 45 "consensus" EX- or better sound quality boots and contrasted it with your list, but I did not get a chance to finish my post. I feel that creating a top 19 list of single source boots is too limiting. It overlooks other potentially better boots. Also, about half of your 19 picks are very good boots, but not good enough to be in a top 20 list of best Queen boots. Yes, many shows have multiple sources. However, it is usually not difficult to find a bootleg in quality near the best available. In my case, it sometimes took me 3 or more tries to get a bootleg in decent quality. I have only failed to find a decent version on 2% of the concerts in my top 100 list. |
