I'd like to hear more opinion's about this.
Personally I think that most of the time he's right about being upset whenever some sort of relevant story of animal abuse is going on, but yet I think he seems to take matters too much to the heart. I'm an animal lover myself, and I get mad when animals get killed or abused for no justified reason, so I understand why Brian feels this way.
However, the odd part is that he seems to bring the topic of animal rights a lot more often than before. Through most of his career Brian didn't quite seem like the rock star turned into animal rights crusader, such as Paul McCartney. I'm sure Brian has always cared about protecting animals, but it definitely seems like the whole issue is concerning him a lot.
Sometimes Brian's rants seem a bit annoying, but I'd much rather hear him bitch about an important cause like protecting animal rights than something dumb like a bad critic review of that shitty musical.
Well, he has our attention! I love the Soapbox - always something new. It is like being back in school. "Rants" from sincere teachers were extremely memorable to me. I can remember a few good ones - almost verbatim.
Brian ranting about <insert topic here> is about as normal and expected as the sun rising each day. Sometimes it seems like the man has lost all perspective.

Why, because they don't happen to be your priorities? Although I don't always agree with Brian's rants, I'm glad he still has an eye for topics outside the music biz.
I enjoy hearing what he has to say. It's a good glimpse into his psyche. I do think he goes overboard sometimes but heck, he can make his thoughts public just like anyone with a blog. I don't believe he's bound to uphold some Queen spokesman position.. it's BrianMay.com, not Queen.
He does show some immaturity when blasting critics or anyone who is doing something he doesn't agree with, yeah.. but we all do that sometimes :)
I suspect he'll have less time for his rants when they get into the studio next month. I think he's just between gigs at the moment ;)
I love Brian's rants. He's even better than the balding ginga British man who's face went red when he talked, that used to be on Breakfast. I love how he's so oppinionated.
If you don't like what Brian has to say, don't go to his website anymore. He has as much right to bitch about things as you have a right to make a random post on a queen website.

Apparantly people dont have the right to give "We Will Rock You" a bad review without our poor Brian busting a nut though right? Sorry, just thought that was funny. I agree though, freedom of speech is freedom of speech right.
I agree with his animal rights rants, since I'm as whiney as he is (or even more) when it comes to those kind of topics.
As for other comments, no comments...

It has nothing to do with me or "my priorities," so let's keep the focus on topic shall we?
Brian takes extreme positions, going wildly over-the-top in his 'holier than thou' proclimations. He is almost laughably sensitive regarding critics. If you find the smallest problem with his work then you're dismissed as an idiot who apparently isn't intelligent enough to "get it." I could go on about his rampant hypocricy with the latest example being myspace and how insidious and evil it is (though it's ok to promote Jamie's music on brianmay.com by telling folks to go to Jamie's myspace page.) Let's not forgot the horrible tabloid press that was apparently good enough to help promote the musical with that free CD give-a-way not that long ago.
I dig Brian's music of course and he's clearly an intelligent man but occasionally he comes across like he's flipped his wig (no pun intended.)
Maybe Brian is hoping for a world that is kind to animals, and where newspapers pay good salaries to talented writers who do research prior to writing articles.
Stories of animal abuse have been going since the beginning of time.
One thing for sure is that this Brian May doesn't seem the same Brian May from 25 year ago. If the Brian May from the 80s had the same mentality as today's Brian May, I could see him boycotting Latin America and Spain until they ban bullfighting.

True!!! I love his soapbox and I'm never annoyed by anything he says.
I love the fact that he's open with his fans, but he's so off base with some things it's embarassing. Especially his repsonse to the people killing stingrays in response to Steve Irwin's death. Earth to Brian: these people are idiots, and idiots are everywhere. They are 1/1000000th of Australia's population, does he really need to vent about the colossal stupidity of a few when it's obvious to anyone these people are the LCD of intelligence who are probably incapable of accessing the internet or even reading?
