I've stopped watching, what a pile of shit. Typical ITV bollocks. Told you nothing so far, apart from he was in a band called Queen who did that Bohemian Rhapsody song and became famous, he was Indian, a raging homosexual and died of AIDS. Nothing about his music, apart from Robbie Williams and McFly saying hes great in riddles and nothing about Mary Austin. Waste of time. |

They had his mum on. What more do you want? |
una999 12.09.2006 18:04 |
Well to be honest ITV are a pathetic channel - everything they do it's just a laugh - their news, their sports coverage, like take the world cup. Absolute idiots - reality tv, crap dramas about detectives and coronation street - fucking bullshit. Anyway ITV are going down hill as can be backed up by its falling share price. I didn't see the programme but as the guy who said it was crap i believe that person |
Penetration_Guru 12.09.2006 18:26 |
I learnt nothing from it, but your average ITV watcher probably would have learnt a bit, although 45 minutes (less 2 ad breaks) is hardly enough to cover the subject in any depth at all. |
Bohardy 12.09.2006 18:36 |
Pretty sure it was 3 ad-breaks... Where was Brian? Ill? Bored? In a burns-unit, threatening to sue Apple? It's not like him to not contribute to something like this. And what new bits were there (apart from the celeb interviews)? A couple of snippets of the Wigg interviews were new to me. Particularly interesting was Fred demanding that it not be reported that he's in a steady relationship with a man, but rather that he's just in a steady relationship. |
Vantrini 13.09.2006 03:39 |
i watched it and it was fantastic it was only on about 35 minutes or so but i really enjoyed it and will be watching it again on friday but this time on for an hour |

That was the only thing I didn't know, and it was very interesting. I thought he'd never tried to hide his sexuality, but had never openly admitted it either. I don't blame him, but it's interesting. I'd seen the footage of him in the bath fooling around and acting extremely childlike before, but it still seems a very different image of him. Even if you accept he was shy in private, this is a very different side from what you think of as a very strong character. I guess everyone's gotta let their hair down at times!!! |

Watched this last night and was thoroughly embarassed by it. My parents saw it too and made the comment that all anyone would get out of the show was the knowledge that FM was a complete bender who lived in New York. Would be interesting to see who gave the final go-ahead for this to be broadcast actually. I can't believe that Kashmira had actually seen it before it aired; same with Roger. Still, just goes to prove that the management of the Queen / Freddie Mercury legacy is STILL a complete mess. Good job I got rid of the bulk of my Queen collection when I did eh!? |
kerfuffle87 13.09.2006 06:06 |
yeah have to say that i was a little disappointed; they seemed to skip straight from his school days to Queen, which I didn't think was right. plus i have to agree, the ad breaks were squeezed in and frustrating - wish they'd put it on bbc at least, cantstand adverts! nevertheless, it was nice to have a new special dedicated to freddie on the television. :o) |
_Bijou_ 13.09.2006 06:12 |
I think it was a bit sleazy. They mainly concentrated on his sex life than anything. The end was so sad though. That bit where they showed the photo of him behind a lit up cake and that sad music. And I didn't get why that little statue was everywhere. |
hcrvelin 13.09.2006 06:15 |
I watched that last night I thought how stupid I was to miss CSI over that crap. It was one of the worst TV documentaries I have seen lately. |
Mr Mercury 13.09.2006 07:48 |
All in all it was pretty poor. That said I thought that the bit where Freddie was singing "I Want To Be Loved By You" in the bath was quite funny..... |
KevoM 13.09.2006 08:26 |
It was the worse Freddie doc I have ever seen. It concentrated too much on the sleazy side. As it was ITV, which is probably the worse TV channel in the UK (if not the world!) then I didn't expect that much anyway. What a waste of good digital TV bandwidth ITV1, 2, 3 and 4 are! To non-UK fans... DO NOT even bother getting hold of a copy, it's just not worth it, you'd be better off with one of those 'unofficial DVDs' like 'Under Review' instead. To make matters worse, ITV are doig a re-hashed version of 'Magic Years' (a 'Freddie version) on Friday 14th Sep. |

Best points of the doc. : Appearances by Freddie's mum, sister, Monsterrat Caballe and Roger. Worst points of the doc: Peter Freestone (who one day should be gagged with Superglue) going on about Freddie's preference for 'Truckers' Robbie Williams, that rubbish Freddie impersonator and McFly being interviewed. There was about 5 minutes altogether on Queen and about half of the rest was dedicated to Freddie's childhood and the rest to his social life! ITV really seemed to relish on Freddie's being gay! Yes OK, the guy had straight and gay sex with lots of people WE GET IT!! IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL ALL RIGHT?! There wasn't really anything in it that was new. I thought the part at the end, with Roger hoping he and Bri were 'keeping your legacy alive mate!' with his eyes cast towards the heavens (and he isn't even religous :D)and his family saying how they loved him and McFly apologising for ruining Don't Stop Me Now ;D |
flash! 28068 13.09.2006 13:17 |
It was OK to watch. Anything about Freddie on TV and i'm glued to the screen!! It was strange, actually. I forgot they were showing it and a few hours before it started a picture of Freddie at Live Aid fell off my wall. I put it back up again and suddenly realised the show was going to be aired shortly. Maybe it was a reminder. |

Yeah, I guess we have to expect this sort of sensationalistic shite from ITV, just watch the news at 10 with that cock Mark Austin and all his cronies. Complete tossers. Ah well... |
Brimon 13.09.2006 14:46 |
What struck me about the documentary was the fact that queen only ever had two hit singles, bo rhap and we will rock you. Makes you wonder how they ever lasted so long. |
its_a_hard_life 26994 13.09.2006 15:10 |
I loved the last part.... Roger says, while looking upwards... "I hope we are carrying on your legancy, mate" Meaning ofcourse for Freddie. And Freddie's mother said something like, "It keeps me going to see people still listening and loving my sons music." That was so lovely... |

How can you say they only had two hit singles?? |
Brimon 13.09.2006 16:55 |
What I meant was, that the documentary made it appear that they only had two songs, cause thats all that they seemed to mention. :) |

(i.e "his cock was huge!" in loves doc...) Oh well. |

Peter freestone - i'd love to superglue his mouth he's such a pain listening to him. I didnt watch the programme because it was on ITV and they are PATHETIC - at everything - loosers!!! NOt surprised they just concentrated on his sex life - i mean thats just totally unfair - the average person on the street could prob write a book on their sex life and it'd be sleezy yet for freddie its all SEX - infact if it was all sex how did he manage to write all the songs and learn all the music he did??? ITV are a bunch of WANKERS and they're dumb too - bankruptcy is seriously on the horizon |
