So, I'm wondering who around here went to Breakthru? I sort of forgot about it, and didn't go, really, but what happened was, the same night, by coincidence, Almost Queen were playing in town (just a few blocks from the hotel where the convention was happening, oddly enough). I went to the concert, and bumped into a few nice ladies from teh convention, who dragged me back to the hotel after the show and we hung out with Almost Queen. |

Party Crasher! LOL!! I was there, at both the Convention AND the concert. Great time. :) |

Deacons 1st Choice wrote: Party Crasher! LOL!! :)Blame it on Lisa from Oakland. She saddled up next to me at the concert, and afterwards, she and her other friends sort of talked me into coming down to the hotel. They were like "Don't worry, they're not checking, and you're wearing a Queen shirt, they'll let you in". So I only really saw the end of the dance thing at the end of the night, and the room party that went until almost dawn. :D And who was the girl who was having everyone sign her pants? |

WhatMustHeThink wrote: Heehee, Silvershoes, sounds like fun!! BTW, where did you get the quote in your siggy?Oh, geez, that's from some documentary I saw on TV. It might have been the one that MTV aired, around the time of the Freddie tribute concert (The Concert For Life, or whatever it was called). It was hosted by Axel Rose. Anyway, there's a bit where Roger's being interviewed, and he's talking about how the band always stuck to their guns, especially in the early days when they were still building their career and everyone was telling them they needed to change their music, etc. Roger says "Freddie had a saying, 'Compromise? That word is not in our vocabulary!'". At the time I was registering, and it asked for a signature, that was all I could think of (though I could swap any number of movie or TV show quotes, or song lyric quotes, Queen and otherwise), so I went with it. |

Heehee, thanx for the info! I like that quote, i can just imagine Freddie saying it, and Roger immitating him saying it, haha |

iron eagle wrote: actually we were checking... by the time you got there it was just the dance and many people had gone to pass out by then....Well, I assume that's what they meant, that it was late, and all that was happening just the dance. Course, if someone HAD made a big deal, I could have just hung out with the Almost Queen guys in the lobby and/or the room party. :-) |

Lisa from Oakland here. Nothing evil about bringing you back to the party, I was just being a friendly, inclusive Queen fan. I checked with Paul about bringing Almost Queen back anyway. Glad you had fun! |

I called Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy (which I only spotted because I remember Joe, er I mean, Almost Freddie, saying the same thing about it being "in my favorite key" at the January show). I DID have a lot of fun hanging out with you and everyone else at both the show and back at the hotel. Hopefully, next year, I'll get it together, and finally attend Breakthru properly. :) |
iron eagle 16.08.2006 19:03 |

ElleInnuendo wrote: Of course I remember who you were! :)I was just making sure. You might be thinking "Who the hell is THAT, trying to get me in trouble" or something. :-) And I think Breakthru should be held in Cleveland at least one more year. Gimme a chance to make sure I actually show up for it, PLEASE!!!! :-) Though I guess it could be argued that I've had a chance every year that it's been held in Cleveland. I'm just too absent minded to make sure I show up! :-) |

Convention-wise.... Paulie can add the details... My wife and I finished 2nd to Joe Pace on the trivia Friday night I finished 3rd on the main trivia, and choked liked an oxygen-starved fish as a finalist for the main trivia Saturday night. How many people could not name Christopher Lambert as the Highlander?????? 2% ????? Choke Gasp Hack Pressure Made me feel a tad better that Stacey's roommate Janet beat her after seven rounds of the Alphabet Game. We all deserved a little piece of paper though. Congrats to Nick for the big trivia win. To Ruth for finishing 2nd. Well done to those who won other prizes for other contests. Well done to the committee. joe, susan, faithful dog freddie+ |
