Anybody a fan of vinyl around here? I surely am, Vinyl is the definitive form of music in my opinion, it's very soulful and great. The first vinyl I ever recieved as a child was "Sheer Heart Attack" of course, by the one and only Queen! I still have it, its truly the most loved out of my whole collection. I have about 500 lps, and I sell and buy more every single day :). It's a great hobby, and I believe any Queen fan, should have the pleasure of hearing their vinyls opposed to the compact discs. I'm always selling copies of "A Night At The Opera","News Of The World","Live Killers" and "The Game". They are very popular among the youth!(I'm more of a Queen II/Sheer Heart Attack fan though) Prehaps fans can share their rare vinyls or even put up a trading list!If anyone is curious about the prices I sell at, its usually anywhere from $3-$6 for non rare vinyls.

I'm a big fan of vinyl, especially since my wife's parents gave us their old sony system a couple of years ago, with the nicest sounding turntable I've ever come accross - I could finally enjoy my records properly! There is something beautiful in the sound of vinyl which isn't present in any other music format, even if it's just the 'thunk' of the needle hitting the record gently.

Awesome, yes I agree wholeheartidly. My turnable produces a really beautiful sound as well. Do you have any fave records?(I think Abbey Road by the Beatles is such a fave on record to most! It just blows all the other formats away!)

Fan! Lots of vinyl of Queen. Few other titles. Gonna buy some newer stuff too. I have Sing for Absolution by Muse and Michael by Franz Ferdinand on vinyl for example. New stuff is excellent.
Vinyl was awesome. You didn't mention the artwork. That was just as important to me growing up as the album itself. And I was always pissed off when the liner was simply a polythene plastic bag.
My favorite was Jon Anderson's Olias of Sunhillow. But all Yes albums were brilliant. Viva Santana 3LP set was pretty cool too. And who didn't have The Wall or Frampton Comes Alive on LP?

Yes definately! New albums on lp are amazing and cheap. Down here you can have any new sealed lp for $8. although new reissues(Beatles,Queen etc) are $24.99, I tend to sell used ones for extremely cheap though($2-$8). Its great to see vinyl fans around

Haha, I'm 23, and I get that feeling when I buy an LP from a used record store who won't allow you to remove their wrapper until you buy it.

Except for the ones that weren't designed by Roger Dean; Going For The One and Tormato are fantastic albums, but the art.... yuck.
Olias Of Sunhillow... a beautiful work of art, both the cover and the music.
Woah, Bob, I thought you were older than me! :|
By the way, I LOVE vinyl LPs! I have been trying to get whole collections of Queen and Billy Joel's albums on vinyl for some time, but they're pretty hard to come by (mainly Billy's) around here.
And another thing. Wotz with writing ur name on every part of the vinyl: on the cover, inlay, disc sticker etc...or worse those black labels. Every once in a while i see a nice 7" that is totally ruined by a label. Bloody shame! :(
The whole thing with vinyl is the complete package. The sleeve, the inners and the disc itself. All sorts of colours and shapes!
A vinyl naturally sounds better because the sound is reproduced in analogue, the same form of course, that our hearing is!

Ah, so you learn something every day, Dan!

Yeah, people wrote on their records, because they didn't think they'd be worth money some day. Same goes for hockey cards. My dad says he and his buddies had hundreds of cards in the late 60s, and they taped their cards to a board to play darts. He had Bobby Orr's rookie card at one point, but back then, that was the middle of the dartboard.
