"I've never heard of Lou Reed, but his name tells me all I need to know about him."
- I have no idea what you mean by that, someone care to enlighten me? What an ignorant git I am.
PS. Allow me to state again: lou reed rocks. I wish I could write songs half as good as him.
Yeah, that's right - get your basics first.
Obviously if you never even heard of Lou Reed you are not ready for him.
Lou Reed/Velvet Underground comes about 15 years after your first Beatle record, 12 years after your first Zeppelin and 13 years after your first Floyd album.
Generally!
Of course some people are musically not intellectual enough to EVER get it.

The lyrics directly after this are not applicable, mind!

Nah, seriously... Jingles, man... I love you, but... anyone that in all objectivity says that by not knowing at least Transformer or Berlin (pick your favourite 'Lou') you are not missing anything great, lacks some serious musical sense!
So Bowie isn't 'real' music either, then??
Lou is a master, Velvet Underground is a jewel in rock history, bigger than our Queen as an influence in new generations, i love'em, so transformer, berlin, great writer
I love Lou Reed,he's one of my favourite lyricists.I used to only like his work in VU but now I'm really into his solo stuff.
What do you guys think about John Cale?
