I stalked Brian but he got his lawyer to send me a very short letter...
This was *not* a synthesizer, so the "no synths" rule wouldn't have applied. The only thing I can think of is maybe they were worried people would *think* it was an aminal experiment if seen onstage....
well, they USED TO have a set of bagpipes....
But Freddie was experimenting with diferent things on Roger at the time, and one thing led to another...and they couldn't use them on stage anymore...

And that's when Freddie produced a hurdy-gurdy, and Roger got REALLY worried...
and this is on the serious discussion forum?...............................................................................................................
Yeah whatever...I'm going to QueenOnline. God Queen were on the forefront of manipulating magnetic tape, so you'd think it would be interesting to find out why they didn't use a machine MADE for manipulating magnetic tape.
Oh yeah...Freddie was a bad singer, and Brian could barely play the guitar. (Now watch people respond to 13 pages of that.)

Hahah. Have you been to the beach lately? Sounds like you've got sand in your... nevermind. To be honest I too wonder why they never used a mellotron. But, to each their own. Maybe they DID use one and hated it? :D
I think they didn't use bagpipes because Freddie got a little too friendly with them one time in the studio.
I often ponder why they never used the spoons.
