On 10th September 1982 Queen played in Veteran's Memorial Coliseum - and the city was Tempe or Temple. State was either California or very close to California. Is anybody able to find any proof? I even have the ticket on my site but it doesn't say anything about the city.
Similar case is 16th September 1980 - Queen played either in Kemper Arena, Kansas City or in Hilton Arena, Ames, Iowa. All Queen websites claim it was Kansas but I certainly haven't come with Ames myself so most likely some fan has sent me this info. That's why I vote for the latter but I don't have any proof. Any help would be appreciated!
Tempe, Arizona for the first one.
Kemper Arena, Kansas City for the second.
I have no proof of either, so I don't know if this is of any use to you..;-)
Yup, agreed with Erin. Tempe is most definitely in Arizona, and Temple is a university in Philadelphia ;)
By the way, Mr. Scully, I saw on your website that you need some assistance with some US cities. I might be able to help - do you still need it?

Maybe Mr Dean is from Ames, Iowa, and just wants to believe that Queen played there ;)
I've seen Kemper Arena every time, and I don't even think Queen played in Iowa ever... but I'm inclined to believe that anything is possible. Even playing live in Iowa.

Playing in Iowa happens to the best of us sometimes. Ask Slipknot..
As far as I know, they did play Ames that day. My mother's best friend was there, and at one point we had a huge collage of pictures taken at that show hanging up in our house. Where they wound up, I do not know unfortunately. But it did happen.

I believe that RedSpecial1979 is telling the truth. We met at a meet-up before the Chicago show almost 3 weeks ago. Of course I lamely asked him where he was from, and how he became a Queen fan. He mentioned he was from Iowa, and that his mother, who had been a fan since the mid 70's, had gotten him into Queen.
I believe Mr RedSpecial as well; people who go to concerts may frequently forget when they went, especially twenty-six years after the fact, but rarely do they forget where the concert was (unless they were so stoned that they couldn't even remember they were on planet Earth).
Most likely the Kemper Arena gig was cancelled (1980 produced a lot of cancellations, for some reason) and the Iowa gig was performed instead. That's my take on it, at least.
Thanks for your suggestions and ideas.
Ames 1980 - I think it's clear now. The Kansas City concert was rescheduled from 16.9.1980 to 12.9.1980 and another gig (Ames 16.9.1980) was added. That sounds like a good explanation.
Now the more difficult part. Tempe 1982. There's a city called Temple in Texas but that's not what we search for. Tempe is something like a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona and there IS a Veteran's Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. But the coliseum seems to be in the middle of the city while Tempe is not. Any suggestions?
Also is it possible that Queen played in Oakland, CA => Tempe, AZ => Irvine, CA => L.A., CA?
I want to add that there's no name of the city on the ticket for 10.09.82. Also there's no complete name of the venue on the ticket, only "Veterans Memorial...". So it can be Arena or Auditorium or Coliseum etc...
I believe they played in Phoenix. New Haven also has Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Yea, Arizona is not very far from cali, cali is a short state sideways, it's only a large state due to how long it is, so travel from these places back and forth is not such a great distance.
Lot of tours in the usa have that kind of zig zag between states.
