I agree. There's so much passion in his voice when he sings that song.
According to the sleeve notes in the solo CD collection, In My Defense was a 1-take recording.
Dave Clark said (of Time and In My Defense) - "I was so knocked out by Freddie's performances on In My Defense, that I asked him if he would like to record the title track. Freddie gave 110% to both songs on every take. He actually 'performed' the song, he didn't just sing it. He performed it as he would have done in front of 100,000 people, in concert - with every ounce of his being. His commitment was quite amazing. Whether it was 10 o'clock at night or 5 in the morning, he always gave it absolutely everything."
It was nice to see that video, particularly during the filming for IGSM where Fred is laughing in spite of it all. Some good footage of the Magic tour too with bits from Slane Castel I think. As a song, it's great as well- Fred's vocals are strained, yes but it actually works very well in the context of the song- a lovely outro too. I think fred's work for the Time musical was very good- Time the song, is excellent- particualrly the second verse where the harmony vocals come in.

In My Defence is so beautiful - one of my very favourite songs. The end always brings tears to my eyes-"Oh help me God,please help me" ;)
Oh me too, but a lot of Freddie and Queen's songs do the same thing to me.
After I actually read the lyrics though, I really cried. (Yes, I'm quite emotional)
