EDIT: I have already posted this in the 'Headlong Demo' thread in the 'Announce' section. However, I thought it may be beneficial to repeat the posting in here also.
Headlong Demo link
First: Thanks to YV who kindly uploaded the demo, and I also applaud her reasons for doing so.
Second: IMO it seems this demo is made up from two separate tracks - a left and a right channel. Therefore, would it be possible to divide these into two (centralised) mono demos? (If I was to do this, I would end up with the track coming from only one speaker and not both!).
If so, (and my guess is correct) the 'Official' Freddie Innuendo version could be discarded, while the 'Brian Backing Track' could be exposed in its full glory.
This does NOT mean that the latter would be any better or 'more genuine', but it may well be closer to Brian's home demo guide track.
So, being blunt - is this possible, and would some kind re-mixer be able to do this?
No guarantees, as I haven't heard it yet, but yes, it should be possible, and quite simple to do. If no one else jumps on this, I'll have a look at it later this evening. There might even be the potential to mix the 'Brian' version over the eYe instrumental, and create a full duet vocal version.
But isn't there like nil to work with in the demo? There's a lot of mumbling amongst the bass and drum parts. For the small portions that Brian actually has in his demo. Then of course, there's Fred's vocal on top.
Peace,
Adam.
Well, I'm not calling this a 'remix' as such, but here's something rough and ready - the Demo mix overlaid on the eYe mix. It does go slightly out of sync a couple of times, but hell, it's not my bloody fault Roger Taylor can't keep time lol! link
I centered the channels on the Demo mix, taking the right channel, but as Adam said, Freddie's vocals are still there as well. I don't think there's much else that can be done with this, but it would be interesting to hear if someone else has had a try.
I quite like this mix your Lordship. I see what you mean about it going out of sync a bit. But you mixed this at such short notice, so I don't think you had much time to tart it up.
It would be great if you could do a different mix of this song, say with just the Brian Vocal on the first section.
Adam, has seperated just the Brian vocal, with just a slight amount of backing track. You can find this in the Announce pages. link
No worries if you haven't got the time, but I really do enjoy listening to your mixes.
Best wishes!!!!
