How many tracks on Queen albums do you think involved the least collaboration between band members and were virtually solo tracks with the others just acting as a backing band? a few of Freddie's ballads- You Take my Breath Away, Melancholy Blues- spring to mind.
Are there any tracks known where one band member recorded instrumental sections normally played by another, e.g. Roger on guitars or Brian on bass, John on guitars in order for them to record more on their own? Perhaps this was more likely on a demo?
Roger' drums on Lost Opportunity
John's bass and Brian's Guitar on Hijack
- Maracas on Who Needs You By Freddie
- Bites The Dust guitar line by John
- Cool Cat Guitar line by John

I would say that John and Roger are both on 'Lost Opportunity', and that 'Hijack My Heart' has Roger and Brian (not too sure about John on bass, as it does sound a little more like Roger's style than John's).
I'd be willing to bet that Roger plays everything on 'More Of That Jazz', and possibly 'A Human Body' (although Brian and Freddie provide backing vocals on that song).
And the only instance I know of Brian playing bass on a song was on 'Dancer', which was really just synthesizer bass.
Ah yes, I have takes four and eight of 'Yeah', completely different to anything Freddie had done before. The demo is pretty rough, though, and has only a guide vocal, but you can tell that Freddie was clearly improvising (and maybe a bit drunk, so he might not have known what he was singing anyway). Still, good stuff to hear. Very relevatory.
Well, I think it's a more pertinent, but sadly little-known, fact that Fred was directly referencing Horace Silver's 1952 composition entitled "Yeah".
Apparently Fred went through a very intensive period of listening solely to hard-bop whilst in Montreux, and 'Yeah' was his way of honouring the inflential pianist Silver, who was Fred's favourite jazzer.

Really? I always thought it sounded similar to the "yeah" heard during the second chorus of Action This Day (the first "yeah")
Oh well, it could be from anywhere. He could have recorded it when he was 10, who knows? lol
