I once ripped on a guy for bashing someone who took his rare Queen item, and shared it with the rest of us. My attitude was, "Screw this guy for being annoyed that his friend made the item public." I admit now, after thinking about it that my attitude was purely self-motivated.
I honestly can't say whether or not I would share anything I had that everyone else didn't, with the rest of you. My first fear would be legal issues. If that wasn't a factor, I would love to share with you all. But what if the hypothetical item in question was the only currency I had to barter with in getting other rare gems?
I think it was Lords Of Darkness who I gave shit to. If it was, or whoever it was, I apologize. I now see why you guys get upset. If it was selfishness, I'd say you guys suck. But in light of figuring out how it's your hand up in trading, which I don't really have, I agree and am sympathetic with your protecting it.
I say this because I have heard of shit out there that I really want, am sure others have, and couldn't get unless I found the right person and offered a lot of money to.
Just an observation from a guy who is trying to get his hands on everything Queen related.
I used to think like that too, but now i really don't care. Why?. Because nowadays with the internet, if something was bootleged then isn't rare anymore!
Rare stuff are original acetates, videos from private collections, and vinyl.
There are two kinds of collectors nowadays:
1- The olde ones, those who still guive lots of money for rare items, and sometimes rare bootlegs (but now with the internet i doubt about spending money with bootlegs);
2- The recent collectors, who like Queen but are most interested in hear the tracks than to have it's original. Let me explain: - If they have "See What a Fool I've Been" on a bootleg or MP3 then they certainly whon't buy the "Seven Seas of Rhye" single because it's too expensive.
As i said in another topic, sharing only reduces the price of the bootlegs, not the official stuff (rare vinyl), and with the internet it's very dificult to keep an item rare!
And if you want my opinion why do whe wan't to be the only ones having a video or a rare song?- I have total respect for the Queen fans and i really think that the Queen magic should be shared with everybody. That's what Queen were allways about. They're not undergroung heros!!!
The only reason i don't share at Queenzone it's because i don't have nothing more that wasn't official release in my collection that you could not have, but i share all videos at E-MULE.
It's up to you!!
Take care
As a technology-dinosaur can someone please help me out ?
I would like to extract the audio portion of a (Queen) DVD in order to play it on a conventional stereo CD player (.ie in a car). I have NERO and Dvd Shrink but I can't seem to get these programs to do what I need. Any info would be appreciated. Thanx.
A program called XMPEG will extract it to WAV/MP2/MP3 and then you have to use a splitter pogram like Nero WaveEditor, and then the Nero Burning ROM to burn the files to CD. Its not as complicated as it sounds, if you have a spare hour.
Thanx - the program I was missing was the DVD "ripper". Once I had the files in MP3 format it was easy to burn the audio CD. Thank you.
(now if I can just figure out how to utilize the Nero graphic Equalizer for the burn, I'd be all set!)
