I bought the dvd for about 4 pounds. It doesnt work and heard somewhere that maybe the tv has to be in PAL mode. What is this? The DVD skips and is black and white. I hope I didnt get ripped off.
Sounds like you are trying to playback a PAL disc on an NTSC system.
PAL is the color system using on televisions in the UK and NTSC is the color system used in North America.
You have to get 1) A DVD player that converts PAL to NTSC or 2) A PAL to NTSC convertor box
Personally I would get a DVD player that converts PAL to NTSC.

Thanks, but its not worth it for a $10.00 dvd. Ill just take my losses and make sure next time its compatible.
It's not only the DVD-player that needs to be compatible, but your TV needs to be as well.
I'm with Barry. Rip the DVD, and burn it again in NTSC format. But again, if you have a DVD-ROM, you can definitely watch it on your computer.
