Time for me to get all sentimental. Let me sum this up:
I have been a Queen fan for 12 years. From the first day I ever heard them, they were my favourite band. Therefore, they have been my favourite band for over half my life. Two days to the minute from now, I will be having the experience of my life. I will be watching Brian May and Roger Taylor performing 30 feet away from me. What will they play? It doesn't matter. The more 70s material the better, but that's just icing on the cake. I successfully avoided most of the forum so I wouldn't find out what was new in Aruba. I'm sure, whatever they have chosen, Rodgers will do them justice. Surely they will make me infinitely proud to be a Queen fan, more than I already am.
To all the Queen+Rodgers tour nay-sayers:
You criticize the band for not playing enough Freddie songs in Europe, and therefore they are disrespecting his memory. Yet you insist that using the name for the band which Freddie came up with is in itself disrespect. So had they played all Freddie songs thus far, it would have been at least partially okay? You criticize the band for playing a Greatest Hits setlist, yet this includes only four Freddie songs - three of which were actually big hits. Yet you insist it was Freddie who carried the band, and the band would have been little to nothing without him. Contradictions, contradictions. Face it: without Brian, Roger, and John, Freddie is the Mr. Bad Guy album.
Screw the lot of you. You can stay at home and listen to the cds and watch the DVDs. I'm going to go watch the real thing: Tie Your Mother Down, '39, I'm In Love With My Car, and whatever else they have in store.
Queen, it has been twelve long years. I'm ready. Let's rock.
