Anybody heard the new 5.1 DTS mix on the new Flash Gordon DVD?
How does it compare to the original DVD's DD 2.0?
A lot of these '5.1 remixes' from old Dolby Stereo films are usually pretty poor with just the odd bit of music steered around the rears.
Is Flash Gordon an exception?
Picture quality isn't bad from what I saw, the extras are pretty crappy (interview with Mike Hodges is about his career mainly). I listened to the Brian Blessed audio commentary...very entertaining, though a little repetitive (he forgot JD when he listed the Queen members!). I have listened briefly to the main feature and the Queen soundtrack sounds a bit 'thin' to me.
I was quite pleased with the orignal's pic quality and would be surprised if they could better it on Standard DVD.
May give a miss if the audio hasn't been improved.
