What's the deal with Bon Jovi?? First, their new album debuted at #2 and had the highest first-week sales of their career (I think??), and they've sold out (according to Ticketmaster) 18 out of their first 28 concert dates. I didn't know they were still that popular. I remember the song "It's My Life" from a few years ago, but that's about it. Then I think they released an album of acoustic, reworked covers of their greatest hits, which pretty much tanked. Usually if you release an album that tanks, it's kind of rare to have your next album debut at #2 and post the strongest sales of your career...plus be selling out shows right & left. Plus, if you look at the current charts, they've outsold and charted higher than The Rolling Stones & Paul McCartney regarding their new CDs. So, overall I'm surprised, but pleasantly surprised, at how well they're doing. |

Bon Jovi may not be my favourite band, but I still have a lot of time for them. There is something about Wanted Dead Or Alive that I love. It's a great song anyway, but I just love it. And the reworked songs album wasn't that bad, it's just I dno't think it was the right release and it wasn't something that the public needed to be honest. So it may have tanked sales wise, but it wasn't actually a bad album. I too am glad the album is doing well. |

I like Bon Jovi. I think it's great how they released all their unfinished demos and B sides in a wonderful Box set with booklet and bonus DVD. Would be a great way for the Queen box sets ;) |

Bon Jovi is musical wise an average band, but their songs are easy to consummate... I think I kinda like their music, especially their songs of the eighties and begin nineties.. |

But to be honest, I have no idea what you mean by "their songs are easy to consummate." |

Bon Jovi might not be remembered as a legendary band of the status of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, or Queen. However, those guys put one absolutely awesome live show, and that's the reason why their tickets have great demand. I saw them once at Giants Stadium in NJ, and they made the whole crowd from the first row on the floor to the highest upper level stand on their feet through the whole show. I will never forget what it was like to see 75.000 people singing 'Always' at the top of their lungs. Jon Bon Jovi has one helluva voice, and they did a rendition of 'Shout' that drove everyone crazy. |

But they have a very good formula!! |

Bon Jovi are good, but let's admit, they are a tiny bit cheesy. However, it works, becuase they don't pretend to be anything they are not, which is what makes them "good" I guess (and they do have some good tracks too). |
Mr.Jingles 07.10.2005 09:32 |
I think the reason why guys like Bon Jovi so much despite having so many cheesy rock ballads is because their songs have helped them get laid. |

I LOVED Bon Jovi when I was in the 6th grade...that is when Slippery When Wet came out. I've liked them ever since too. I think Jon Bon Jovi is a great frontman. Of course he doesn't sit in the same class as Freddie, but I think we all knew that. Different style...overall, I like Bon Jovi a lot and I'm not surprised that they are still able to make top hits and sell out arenas. I was in a bar about a year ago and the DJ played "You Give Love a Bad Name." (is that the name of the song?) The whole bar went nuts! We were all singing at the top of our lungs, you could barely even hear the actual song. Good times!! Very good times. |

It's all about promotion. Personally, I think the new song sounds very generic. It's ok, but I'm not sure I would want to buy the CD because of it. I'll wait for a couple more singles, first.. You are right about the popularity thing. Bon Jovi hasn't been hugely popular, in the US, since the New Jersey album craze. I wasn't overly keen on Bounce, but loved Crush. Having said that, we saw them on the Bounce tour in Charlotte, and the place was PACKED and totally into it. You can make all the hair band jokes you want, but they REALLY know how to perform live. I don't think they will ever have another Slippery When Wet or New Jersey, but I'm glad they are doing well. At least, it gives me the opportunity to look at Jon and Richie..:-p~~~ Yumm..;-) |

All his songs, to me, sound very similar. This new one and 'It's My Life' sound the same (to my *ahem* classically trained ear) Another question..is Jon Bon Jovi the bloke..and the name of the band Bon Jovi? |

Now, speaking of Bon Jovi. Did anyone ever see the report on Conan O'Brien by Triumph The Insult Comic Dog? That was during the 'Crush Tour' show at Giants Stadium in July 2001 (I went to that show). It was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. It doesn't matter how many times I watch it, I always make my stomach hurt with laughter. The funniest part is when Triumph goes to the bus with the roadies and he finds all of them smoking pot, while some of them are trying to hide their bongs. Then Triumph takes out this bong made with a can of Alpo and he says... "It's cool man, it's totally cool". The clip can be downloaded from Kazaa or Bit Torrent, and it's also available on the Triumph The Insult Comic Dog DVD, which has tons of hilarious clips. Even if it had only the Bon Jovi interview, that's still worth the DVD. |

I really like their new album ... But it topped only at the 30th position in charts in my country, France, where people prefer listen mediocrities like Crazy Frog ... |
