That's one for the scrap book. |

Maybe what I said was worded so that it did not come across well or what I meant to convey. When I said a Live 8 type event, I IN NO WAY meant it was on the scale or history of Live 8,... ...but I meant it's because numerous international artists will be performing... ..(Many who ALSO performed at Live 8,) including... ....Sir Paul McCartney, Green Day, Neil Young, Motley Crue, Dave Matthews Band, Rob Thomas, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Good Charlotte,... ..on a major scale of 3 cities (Los Angeles, New York, Nashville)... ....BOB GELDOF'S ''ONE CAMPAIGN'' is ALSO INVOLVED... ...and, while it is not an entire continent, it is an entire region (not just New Orleans)..... ..... but the entire USA Gulf Coast of Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, and Louisiana... ....at LEAST FOUR TO SIX USA states which have been declared Federal disaster areas, with THOUSANDS of people already dead, and THOUSANDS more starving and needing food, medical care, water, shelter... ...that the INTERNATIONAL music community is uniting together for a 3 CITY Internationally televised benefit concert event to help the victims. ...What, because it's America and not Africa, the WORST natural disaster in over a century to hit our nation with thousands dead and thousands more needing help...you have no sympathy or empathy for? ....If Geldof and many of the same artists who performed at Live 8 see this as an important issue, then YOU are being arrogant, saying that because it's America, or because it's not an entire continent, that the THOUSANDS of victims' lives across FOUR TO SIX states...that their lives have LESS worth. Then you sound like Pres. BUSH....who seems to feel the same damn way. ..At least musicians CARE. |

the_hero wrote: where did I say I didn't care about the thousands life that got lost. All I'm saying is, thousands of people die in Africa/India and other parts of the world EVERY day and they get mentioned once in every 20 years with a benefit concert. I think a benefit concert is over the top. if you just make an advert across the world "Please donate money for the people that got homeless and are out of food." then that would be more than enough if you ask me.For a century now, every time any nation in the world suffers natural disasters, war, famine, whatever....they come to the good old USA for HELP..be it money, food, water, shelter, military action, take your pick. So...this is a one time disaster and people died because of a hurricane over the last week, instead of 365 days a year. ...Again..does that make their lives worth LESS than others around the world? ..This was America's version of a Tsunami. Well, the USA gave TONS of aid to the vistims of the tsunami. ...Why is everyone so cavalier and thoughtless to the people suffering here? ...You don't sit and compare one nation's situation to another. ALL that matters are lives lost and lives that need to be MAINTAINED AND NOT LOST, with food, water, medical care, shelter. .......Again....I ask you....if your point is so valid...why then are the VERY SAME MUSICIANS AND ENTERTAINERS WHO PERFORMED AT LIVE 8......PERFORMING AT THIS EVENT...AND MANY, MANY, MANY OTHER Hurricane relief concerts and benefit events over all of Septemeber? ....If you read my blog you will see that literally dozens of national concerts, some televised, some not, special tour concerts, TV and film stars holding benefits and GIVING millions of their own dollars as donations, are all happening NOW and throughout September.... ....and it's NOT just USA musicians or entertainers helping.... ....again it's Geldof, The Rolling Stones, Sir Paul McCartney, and many more INTERNATIONAL artists who are HAPPY to help and are NOT taking this crappy, arrogant attitude some of you have. |

the_hero wrote: because those are the popular bands nowadays (rap acts, green day) and Paul McCartney just seem to enjoy every charity concert that is broadcasted.Apparently you didn't read my blog...no it NOT just the popular acts..and BTW, Paul McCartney is doing this because he is a DECENT human being, which is why he always does benefit gigs. But...I said in my post above, if you read my blog there are MANY music artists holding benefits..some televised and some NOT. The jazz community is doing a benefit 9/17 in New York's Lincoln Center with Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Wynton Marsalis, and Bill Cosby. The Country Music community is holding a benefit at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry 9/27 with Alan Jackson, Alison Kraus, and Keith Urban. The E! Entertainment TV Channel is filming Public Service Announcements to help and give to the American Red Cross with Paul Abdul, Mariah Carey, Destiney's Child, Carlos Santana and more Hollywood stars as well. The Walt Disney Film/TV/Amusement Park Company donated $2.5 Million. Celine Dion donated $1 million. Sean ''Diddy'' Combs and Jay-Z each donated $1 million. The entire NFL (National Football League), and the American Baseball League are taking up donations at ALL USA football and baseball games held in the USA over the next 2 weeks. Football star Dion Saunders made a televised challenge to ALL USA major league athletes of Baseball, Basketball and Football, to donate at least $500,000 each (since athletes in the USA are paid even MORE than musicians and entertainers), which Saunders already donated himself. Actor George Clooney is doing PSA's (televised Public Service Announcements) for Bob Geldof's ''One Campaign'' to raise awareness and donations and ask people to volunteer or help however they can. Comedian Chris Rock, Stevie Wonder, Sean ''Diddy'' Combs, Russell Simmins, Jay-Z, Wynton Marsalis & Master P. will host a benefit on BET (Black Entertainment Television) Network 9/9/05. Velvet Revolver donated ALL money from last night's gig at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida to the American Red Cross. Dave Matthews Band is holding a benefit concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado 9/12/05. Clear Channell Concert Promoters are organizing MORE, UPCOMING benefits and concerts. Here in Maryland USA where I live, all the local unsigned musicians/bands and sporting events like Little League Baseball, Orioles Major League Baseball and the Baltimore Ravens Football Team are donating funds from all events and holding fundraisers. etc, etc. etc. All over the USA, people who are NOT famous and people who ARE, care and are helping. |

fuck america man...just shows how fucking stupid they are that it take 5 days for them to send help. I feel sorry for the people in N.O...but worse has happened elsewhere with not a finger being raised by the US. Here's a plan: Stop spending billions of dollars on a bullshit war and start helping your own citizens! |

Here's a plan: Stop spending billions of dollars on a bullshit war and start helping your own citizens!Look........I AGREE that the billions of dollars, and tons of medical personnel, militray personel, food, water, medical supplies that are ALL wasted on a war in a nation (Iraq) where the people do NOT want us there and are KILLING our troops, should never have happened and that all of that money, personnel and supplies SHOULD have been spent on OUR OWN US citizens. But....I am Sick and tired of people on this board WASTING MORE TIME and PEOPLE"S LIVES arguing over who is to blame, why, how this could have been prevented....IT"S TOO LATE now. ...GET OVER IT. The catastrophe happened, NONETHELESS and NOW ALL...that is important and that MATTERS, is saving the lives of countless more suffering people. ...STOP WASTING TIME and confusing politics amd the blame game.... .............with SAVING LIVES............ |
