Talent-spotting at the local
ANOTHER gig in another local Cornish pub for the unknown band Wire Daisies. But there is a difference. One of the regulars at the Ferry Boat Inn at Helford Passage, Falmouth, is a certain Roger Taylor, otherwise known as the drummer from Queen — who last month replaced the Beatles as the most successful artists in the British albums chart.
Taylor was so bowled over by the lead singer, Treana Morris, that he introduced himself, and the result was that the people who run Queen’s website put out a disc on an online label.
With Taylor’s endorsement Morris then secured a recording contract with Angel Records which is part of the mighty Virgin label. The first album, Just Another Day, is out today.
Taylor, 55, said: “I could not believe a singer of this calibre could be found singing in my local Cornish pub. Treana’s voice is a beautiful, natural gift. I expect her to do great things with the Wire Daisies.”
