Hi everyone,
Whenever I download a new bootleg that contains Bicycle Race, I notice that's it's always in a medley and never a complete song on its own and in my opinion sounds pretty rubbishy. I mean in studio it's a brilliant song, one of their best but I think it sounds terrible live from what I've heard, 1 1/2 mins of disappointing song.
Are there any versions that contain the entire song? (i.e. it's not part of a medley). I was guessing that there are because I think I've read in the Greatest Hits 1,2,3 box compilation, that towns used to sell out of bicycle bells prior to Queen concerts and that fans used to ring them at the appropriate moment in the song, hence I assume there must be more complete versions than the terrible one on the live killers album.
Peace out everyone.
No, it was always performed like this in the medley before Killer Queen. They played it only during the Jazz/LK tour, but then dropped it soon again from the set when the Crazy tour began.
Answer the mans quetsion lol. That just popped in my head too, when did they ever get a chance to use the bells? And if it was never played entirely why did it say that in the Greatest Hits booklet?
Cool, thanks guys that clears things up a lot. So in summary, NOPE Bicycle Race was never played in it's entirety live, damn. If it was then I would have loved to hear it.
On a different note....
What a brilliant site this is, a place to indulge my love of Queen music lol.
i have a question where was the bicycle race video
the promo one where freddie wears the shirt with
the starps recorded it looked like a jazz tour
concert hall to me like the fat bottomed girls
video which in fact came from dallas 1978 and
like the dont stop me now one which in fact came
from brussels 1979 so that might be something
spontanious to think about were did it come from.
i mean it could have been live.
most of the 70s videos were recorded in concert halls in whatever town the boys were in, and I think FBG and BR were filmed in the same day, but I know for sure that WWRY and Spread Your Wings were filmed together.
Yes, nibznik, you're right - FBG and BR were filmed in the same day in Convention Centre in Dallas, though non-Queen footages (with nude girls) were filmed before.
