Well, this is for the music experts who can recognize when Roger plays synths and when John does it (I only know for sure when Freddie plays piano and when Brian plays on it, I can see some differences in their styles)...
1) Who plays keyboards on HMH? Roger, Dave, Fred, someone else?
2) Who plays bass? Is it possible that it was Roger too (in the case if it was real, not synth bass)? Bass sounds are more like in the tracks where Roger played it.
I've got strange feeling that this song was recorded by Roger and Brian only...
I'd say, going by the demo version, it sounds a lot more like just Brian and Roger, I'd agree with you there. However...
...there's a decent bit of piano at the end of the demo. Would that have been played by Brian? I'd say it's a little too complicated for Brian perhaps, but that's not to say it would have been Fred though. Any ideas?

it sounds too natural for Brian, possibly Fred eh?
and what about that end drum bit - is that We Will rock you?
Hijack My Heart - my favourite Queen song! Glad to see a discussion on this one at last!
My opinion is that Freddie didn't take any part in the finished recording although the demo may have had piano played by him. As far as the bass goes - if it was programmed then John may have had a hand in it but I think Roger may have just played it if it was 'keyboard' bass. All the other synths may have been played by Roger and Brian (mainly Roger i'd expect). Guitars, obviously Brian must have handled those - I don't think Roger could have played the verse fills that well.
I wonder if 'Hijack My Heart' started off as a Cross track? Sounds more like something they might do. Would've been a nice addition to The Miracle, either way.
