On the video Classic Queen I love the song Headlong and play it over and over again. I wish it would have made it onto a DVD so I could spin it in repeat. All four look happy, relaxed, smiling, and as though they are really enjoying themselves. John especially looks so young and fresh. Clips of them smiling. Laughing. It's the best!

I would love to see the making of that video, it's one of my favorites too. Is the making of video on the GH2 dvd/ my shift button is dead... a
No. It's in fans' collections and was available to download somewhere in the Web some years ago. Some footages also can be seen in GFII and on Queen Rocks VHS as I remember.
'Making of' videos for all Innuendo videos are exist (except 'The Show Must Go On' of course)
Regardless of what difficulties Queen may have had making the Headlong video, the final product is superb. I still say all of them look happier than on any other Queen product I have seen. They especially look relaxed and smiling on the many little clips of them in the control room. I think people can tell what are real smiles and what are pretend. I know the songs on Innuendo were all credited to Queen rather than any individual, but I still wonder who really wrote Headlong. I would say Headlong is the only rock 'n roll song on the Innuendo cd. All of the other ones are in a category of their own --
intense (Ride the Wild Wind)
dramatic (The Show Must Go On)
creamy (These Are the Days of our Lives)
playful (Delilah)
I'm exhausted every time that cd ends.

I can't Live With You
Don't Try So Hard

I can't Live With You - Conflicting
Don't Try So Hard - Lax

Lost Opportunity (y'know...the B-Side that got left off the album) - Regretful
To be honest, I think that Lost Opportunity can slide easily onto the end of Innuendo Since Freddie's not on it, it sorta is saying "we regret not being able to do everything we wanted to do with Freddie and Queen."

I agree - having watched the outtakes, I got the impression that Freddie was very tired and ill and would rather not have been there, but gave it everything he had when he thought DoRo were filming a usable take. Hat's off to Fred. He was a real trouper. On with the show, indeed.

Brian has frequently spoken about Queen albums having been intentionally designed to have a lot of light and shade, peaks and valleys, so that the listener feels like they've gone on an emotional journey - ended up somewhere at the end of the album that is quite different from where they began. I always feel that way with Innuendo - much of it, I'm sure, due to knowing the hardships the band and especially Freddie were enduring during the recording sessions for the album.
