Hello, all you physicians and health experts out there. I have a bit of a quandary, and I wonder if anyone's ever experienced this before.
What's happening is that whenever I walk, my left heel gets this weird sensation, almost as if it has been severed (or, alternately, as if there's some kind of a liquid sloshing around in there). It's a very weird tingling feeling, basically.
Has anyone ever heard of this, and, if so, is it something I should be overly concerned about? I'll be on vacation next week, so I don't know if I'll be able to squeeze a doctor's appointment in, as that's the ideal scenario.
ouch!! Is it painful or just an odd feeling? Can you think of anything that you did to it? Like hit it on something, step on anything? Can you see anything wrong on the outside with your heel like a cut or bump or anything?
What about a heel spur? I've never had one but my mom did. She had to have like an outpatient procedure where some sort of bone had to be shaved down. I think it does grow back though and has to be reshaved every couple years or something? I don't know...I'll have to ask my mom but I know she was in a great deal of pain..LOTS of pain!
I think you should get it checked out before you leave Lester. If you can't get in to see your doctor at least go to an urgent care place. Don't ignore it bc I'll be mad at you!!!
:)
Heel spur...hmm. One of my friends had one of those a few years ago. Fortunately, this is not painful, but that wouldn't exactly negate it from being a heel spur, I suppose. It's just an odd feeling, so I'm really just trying to watch how I walk to prevent the sensation from happening.
Thanks for the advice, and I shall see a doctor about this! I wouldn't want you to be mad at me - that would be far worse than having a heel spur!
I have a pinched nerve and sciatica in my left leg...
...it sounds like you MIGHT have one or the other.
Please get it checked out.
Important, wear shoes with alot of cushioning inside and a big/thick sole to lessen the impact to your foot and leg when you walk.
Also sit in chairs with high backs and cushioned seats and backs and try to elevate your bad foot when sitting.
Yes, that was another thing. I was walking around an amusement park all day yesterday wearing sandals, which may have been part of the problem. Today, I'm wearing regular shoes and socks (reluctantly, as I had sworn to myself not to do so all summer) and it doesn't seem as bad as it had been yesterday.
When my foot is amputated, I will hold an online auction for the resulting foot. That way, I can raise hundreds of dollars for the costly hospital bills, and some lucky winner will be able to have a piece of Lester Burnham for years to come.

Update.
I haven't yet gone to the doctor's (I have a grad party tomorrow, and I'm going to the beach on Sunday - I have priorities!), but through logical deduction, I have discovered that when I walk around with shoes on (as opposed to sandals) the feeling more or less disappears. It seems that the back support for my heel may have been an issue, though I'm not sure why it's happening now.
It may also hark back to Wednesday night when, after six jack and cokes and one midori sour - and a shot of vodka! - too many, I was bouncing around on the dance floor and may have struck my heel a bit too hard, perhaps jolting something or pinching a nerve. Oh, demon alcohol...
