It's now almost midnight in the UK..... Any news from the Manchester concert yet? How was it? Was Paul back on Form, any changes to the setlist etc. |
hcrvelin 04.05.2005 18:55 |
Apparently after encore Under Pressure was performed. However, there is no confirmation of that yet (I saw it on QOL). |
leia 04.05.2005 18:57 |
Confirmed.... |
djaef 04.05.2005 18:57 |
Under Pressure as encore (Roger singing mostly) and no The Show Must Go On... |
DragonOnMyBack 04.05.2005 18:58 |
Looks like someones just post this a few seconds ago. Good to see another change to the setlist. Lets hope it stays. IT will be interesting to see if they dropped anything to add this, but change is good. :-) |
DragonOnMyBack 04.05.2005 19:00 |
Was Paul on form or do you think they changed things to help his voice. I.e did Paul or Brian sing I Want It All? |
BAD EX 04.05.2005 19:02 |
Yup. Guess who turned up for the encore. Only Max and Paddy. Short version of Amarillo and Queen played Under Pressure for the encore. |
hcrvelin 04.05.2005 19:02 |
At QOL setlist mentioned looks like following (quote): "Here are the songs I can remember (in no particular order after Fat Bottomed Girls): Reaching Out Tie Your Mother Down I Want To Break Free Fat Bottomed Girls Wishing Well Crazy Little Thing Called Love Say Its Not True '39 Love Of My Life Hammer To Fall Drum Solo I’m In Love With My Car Gtr Solo Last Horizon These Are The Days Of Our Lives Radio Ga Ga Can’t Get Enough A Kind Of Magic I Want It All Bohemian Rhapsody -------------------------- Under Pressure All Right Now We Will Rock You We Are The Champions" |

Paul was ok, but I wouldn't think it was his best night. He took a huge break in the middle. Saying that, as I entered the arena, well before the show started it looked rather smokey. I know this can effect his voice. There were no smoke bombs during the show, which could have effected him. On a side note to the above, on leaving the arena, I spotted 3 fire engines at the Stage entrance, so perhaps there was something behind the scenes. |
DragonOnMyBack 04.05.2005 19:04 |
Cool, Thanks for that. Looks the same as Newcastle with the addition of Under Pressure. |
seanyboy 04.05.2005 19:05 |
i just got home! WHAT A SHOW! IT ROCKED START TO FINISH! i was hoping for deacon to appear for under pressure but that was a pleasant suprise for them to play it! the only fault i had with the show was can't get enough of your love is too long! and the lighting show was spot on too! |
DragonOnMyBack 04.05.2005 19:08 |
I am off to see them in Birmingham and Cardiff on the weeekend, hopefully they will keep Under Pressure in for at least one of those shows. |
leia 04.05.2005 19:12 |
I'm sure they could rid themselves of Magic for Under Pressure. I have seen others slag off Magic, and held my breath, thinking they couldn't spoil one of the best songs they played on the Magic tour. They did though, it really was flat. |
seanyboy 04.05.2005 19:14 |
yes the crowd was pretty dead for the whole song. by the way one guy sat the entire concert on his blackberry device and didnt even not once look at the performance! what a looser! |
Brian_Mays_Wig 04.05.2005 19:18 |
Tonight was FUCKING SUPERB, great voices (Paul Included), great guitars and great drums. The whole night far exceeded my expectations. And to top it off, My favourite comedians Peter Kay and Paddy Mcguiness came on and had some banter with the crowd. What a great night. Long Live (half of) Queen! |
Queen& 04.05.2005 19:20 |

Hi! I have been back from the Manchester concert..for like 20 minutes! It was awesome! It was packed full. A friend and I were in the standing area (pit) .... mexican waves rippled around the seating aread, it was so amazing. Brilliant! |
wstüssyb 04.05.2005 20:10 |
seems they played Under pressure? how did it sound? |
Bound 04.05.2005 20:11 |
As good as it should have! They ...well, damn...yeah, Big fan...speechless, lol. It was great. |
gmedwards 04.05.2005 20:58 |
whole gig was fantastic - lights, sound, music all amazing, PR was gone for most of the middle, but Brian and Roger proved (again) they can hold the show on thier own if need be. Roger Jamie and Danny got a nice shower of condoms after say its not true! Under pressure was really good...Brian introduced it saying they put it together in soundcheck, but playing it badly would be better than not at all...but it was not bad at all! would really love to see them again! ps - did anyone notice the cheesy country version of feel like makin love before the start! |
Richard Orchard 04.05.2005 23:41 |
was there a drum machine for "Under Pressure"? |
Hank H. 05.05.2005 03:15 |
The only drum-machine that I can imaginge playing UP is named Taylor. |
leia 05.05.2005 03:31 |
There certainly didn't sound like any drum machines were in use for under pressure. I've got to say that Roger was on top form last night, just about blew me away with his drum work. I'm awaiting for Manchester Online to update there site. They'll have a review of the gig and pictures on there for sure, being the official website of the local daily evening paper. I'll post a link when it's up later on. |

I disagree with you on Magic. I was right at the back and at the top of the second teir and had a veiw of the whole arena. Now, for most other songs apart from "Say It's Not True", when lot's of people took time out to go and get drinks and toilet breaks, the arena rocked. For Magic though, the standing section stopped bobbing, clapping and just watched. I was upset about it really, I love the live versions of this song. Even when Roger does it as part of his shows I love it. Last night, I was let down, it was not the same song I love. If anything it seemed flat, in that the the song is normally full of energy, but that just wasn't there. Others around where I sat all said similar things about Magic. |

Sorry, Richard. Paul didn't sing on Under Pressure, Roger and Brian shared vocals on this number. Roger took the majority of it, with Brian doing some and the audience adding where needed. |

I cant be certain, but considering they said they werent sure who was gonna sing Under Pressure, and from my position at the front of the standing, it looked and sounded to me a lot like Jamie Moses sang his fair share of it, which was quite cool. Having seen PR at Brixton, where he was excellent, I felt sorry for him last night - his voice is playing up without doubt - lots of ducking out of high notes, most noticably on his own All Right Now, so its understandable they dropped TSMGO in favour of a different Queen number he wouldnt have to sing....despite this he was pretty good though, and the band were F***ing awesome! Much tighter than Brixton I thought. |
Cwazy little thing 05.05.2005 05:02 |
Although they were awesome at Brixton too I must add! hehe |

A fantastic evening topped off with the appearance of Max and Paddy on stage. I have a couple of opinions which I know are going to get shot down in flames but here goes anyway. I feel that Brian’s guitar solo is just too long and drawn out. Whilst I’m not the worlds greatest guitar critic I felt like this part of the show dragged on a little. Last Horizon was great but the guitar solo before goes on and on. The other slight gripe was with RT’s drum solo. Now I am a drummer, and can appreciate a good solo, but again I felt as though it dragged on and was fragmented. I think the basis of the solo was Cozy Powell’s “Dance with The Devil”. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but he kept introducing pointless fills and chops. The show started on a big high with TYMD, IWTBF, FBG’s etc. but I thought dipped with the drum Solo/I’m in Love With My Car/Guitar Solo but picked up again from Radio Ga Ga. Surely IiLW my Car could be replaced with something like Now I’m Here (which is awesome) or some other more anthemic number. You may have guessed but I have never taken to the “Car” song. There were also a few glitches with Love of My Life. BM started it out on the end of the runway, (a few feet from my position) and was rudely interrupted by two loud “crackles”. He blamed this on the local taxi rank and started the song again, but something kept coming through – it sounded as though someone was warming up their guitar either on or back-stage. He played through it though and managed to keep it together. Don’t get me wrong I thought the show was brilliant. Personally I love PR’s voice, and the combination of Queen and Paul Rodgers is fantastic. The atmosphere last night was truly wonderful. Thanks guy’s. |
David Jones 05.05.2005 06:25 |
Yep, an amazing concert. Can't really compare it to anything as I haven't seen them on any other dates of the tour, but they were all really tight and played excellent. Shame Paul Rodgers had to dissapear for such a long time but I thought Brian and Roger handled everything superbly. Some funny moments during the concert, Brian's Spinal Tap moment at the start of Hammer To Fall ("Thats the local cab firm, honest!") and best of all when Peter Kay and Patrick McGuinness made an appearance as Max & Paddy singing the Max & Paddy theme tune, bits of Amarillo and general banter with the crowd! Excellent to hear Under Pressure. I have to admit its not one of my favourite songs, but it absolutly rocked last night! The guitar solo was excellent, the glitter ball and the Buckingham Palace footage all added to the great ambience. Did anyone notice the roadies taking away some of Brian's AC30s? They must have overblown! Maybe thats why the fire engines were there... All in all, it seemed like a great crowd. Really enthusiastic, especially at the start with all the Mexican waves! Top gig, great night, thanks lads! |
Flashman 05.05.2005 06:29 |
Well, don't feel too bad considering. Put a few away, I suppose - but spread over 9 hours, so ended up drinking myself sober. Didn't you see us? That was Archie and I smoking cigars and demanding service at the bars. Yes, that's right! I trod on your toes and damned your eyes as you tried to get past me to go to the toilet. No, not that fat bastard - I was the handsome one. Cracking show! The M.E.N. ain't the best venue in the world, but they blew the roof off, which even The Darkness couldn't quite manage. Paul Rodgers wasn't as bad as I was expecting, although I won't be rushing out to buy any of his records. And what's with leather trouser at nearly 60 - surely a criminal offence? Maybe they were rubber, that would be understandable, I suppose. Good to see him off the dole, though. Sang a song called Wishing Well, which was met with thunderous applause when it ended - the crowd were as relieved to see it over as I was. I reckon Brian just improves with age, like the finest Burgundy. His voice was stronger than ever, and his guitar playing top notch. I just sat in awe during Last Horizon. Mind you, I couldn't do much else. It came after a 20 minute guitar solo, so my arse had moulded to the seat. Roger sounded great too, considering how unfit he looks. Gad, who would believe he used to be the pretty one? Some of the folk at the front threw condoms at him when he came on stage to introduce a song dedicated to AIDS victims. How times change - 30 years ago they were throwing knickers. It wasn't the best song really - would have loved to hear Tenement Funster instead. Really touching to hear him refer to Bri as 'my best mate', although Spike looked a little bit despondent. Paul Rodgers was off stage for a good while - absolute bliss. Like having the boys back together again, as it should be. I Want It All was magnificent - best of the night for me. Handy piss break and a chance to wet my whistle during another Paul Rodgers number, then A Kind Of Magic, which was a bit flat though - don't know why, as it's a great song. Had to do a double-take when Peter Kay came on with his sidekick from Max & Paddy (like Brian, I don't know his real name either). Does Peter Kay only own one shirt? He introduced Under Pressure which, while not one of my favourites, was superbly performed after only a day's rehearsal and was much appreciated by the crowd as the surprise it was intended to be. Usual songs to close, including that Free song everyone has heard of (there's only one ain't there?), and Peter Kay (obviously pissed) joined the boys back on stage to take their deserved bows. All in all, a wonderful celebration of the world's greatest band and hopefully not the last time we'll see Rog & Bri (and Spike of course - gad, he's aged) rocking away together on stage. As for Paul Rodgers - a valiant attempt, but expect to see him back on the bins next year. |

The whole concert was amazin' IMO im 23 an have been brought up on queen since i sat in my nappys! hittin' video boxes with pencils watchin Live in Budapest! an this is the 1st time ive ever been able to see any of the band live and i cant even put into words the emotions that ran through me it was simply unbelievable, my older brother is going to the gig in wembley just hope its as good for him.Can anyone shed some light onto the 'Last Horizon' tune that was simply breath taking! an i need to download it!!is it an original or who did it originally?! Cheers |

Last Horizon - Brians first solo album - "Back to the Light"; check it out, the whole album is pretty hot. And yeah - my first tour aswell, although I caught them at Brixton - Great feeling isnt it.....as Brian said lastnight - Hello to the old (like him), and the young, like us I guess! |
bbb 05.05.2005 09:03 |
'Back on the bins'!! Well if ignorance is bliss you must be really happy. The last time I saw PR on stage was in a (sold out) 18.000 seater arena in the US with Bad Co. The _support_ act that night was Dave Lee Roth. Bad Co were huge in the States, they could tour there forever so it's not like PR hasn't got a career. Brian has been introducing Paul on this tour by saying ' this is the man who's made it possible for us to be doing this'. Brian and Roger obviously think they've got the right man for the job. I just wish there was more of his stuff in the set. |
Fenderek 05.05.2005 09:44 |
Fuckin' amazing it was!!! There were some guitar problems during Crazy Little Thing called Love, Brian got his guitar, didn't play a note and exchanged it with another one (don't know which one was copy, which one was original...) Laughed my ass off after Say It's Not True when ppl threw condoms on Roger. AWESOME! Had great sits, on TOP- nalmost at the roof. And here I have to say one thing about MEN Arena- MAZING venue, sitting that high I had an awesome view- could really appreciate the whole light show AND the sound was unbelievably AMAZING. It's gonna be front rows in Birmingham, Cardiff and Sheffield... It was great version of Hammer To Fall- Roger rocks. Before Under Pressure Brian said "We figured it's better to play UP badly than don't play it at all- so we are going to do just that. " Indeed, it could have been better rehearsed, but... did anyone care? Definitely not! Great version of SINT- one of the most beautiful ones on this tour. Great fun during Can't Gety Enough and All Right Now. Crowd went wild during BoRhap,Ga-Ga, WATC, WWRY, LOML... Crowd was actually really good- sitting above everyone it was AMAZING- before the show bored crowd on the tiers started doing Mexican Wave, which met standing ovation from the standing crowd... What else? Seems like Paul is trying to save the voice for Sheffield. If that means more surprises like Under Pressure, than... YES!!!!!!!!! Had a great night, quite few beers, nice company- what else would one want????? |
monty-- 05.05.2005 10:01 |
What do you want to know? Was the performance good? More so. Did the security have a single clue what was going on? No. Security was an utter shambles. I've vented my fury on the QOL forum if anyone wants to read it (sorry Richard, hope you don't mind). If I sent a reply here, it would lose it's venom somewhat as I'm all choked out. Still, fabulous gig though. |
dmk1965 05.05.2005 10:47 |
If you didnt like the security at Manchester - dont go to Sheffield. Have been to MEN 4 times now and each time has been a pleasure. I live in Leeds and i was home by midnight last night having parked in the MEN multi storey. No hassle from any of the security (in fact they helped us get in quicker via different queues etc - and they didnt mind me using my camera. I have been to a number of shows at sheffield and it is ALWAYS a nightmare with traffic queues / badly organised entrances/door staff/ huge queues for any amenities and basically an all round shocking venue. I always like to keep my tickets as souvenirs and at sheffield this is the only venu to not return tickets if you are on the floor. It will be a test of Queen to see if they get a reaction there, cos i have seen a major acts like Elton John / Stereophonics die on their arse there. From a Yorkie and Leeds Fan its hard for me to say but give me Manchester MEN over Sheffield ANY time. |

Well said BBB. Flashman obviously doesn't realise just how 'big' Paul Rodgers is in the world of rock music. Don't want this to sound like an anti-Freddie diatribe, heaven forbid, but Rodgers is widely recognised as the owner of one of the finest voices in this particular genre. No, he doesn't even come close to the late and great FM as a showman but as a vocalist he is at least as good. And 'Alright Now' is one of only a handful of rock songs which can lay claim to be as recognisable, famous and influential as B Rhapsody. Wishing Well isn't quite in that category but it remains one of the best rock songs of the past 40 years and from what I heard, it was as well received as any Queen song at the concert. Remember this is not meant to be an anti-Queen rant, more a pro Paul Rodgers reply to Flashman, who can't get his head around the fact that Brian and Roger didn't want a Freddie clone (if such a person exists) to sing. Instead they went for one of their own all-time favourite frontmen. Indeed, in the past both Brian and Roger have cited Free as one of the bands that influenced the early sounds of Queen. If they'd read some of the rubbish spouted by Flashman, I suspect they'd have written something very similar to this. |
Flashman 05.05.2005 12:07 |

I played around with the file to clear it up a bit, had a bit of sucess. (I left under pressure on as well, it really isnt very good, but someone might want it!) hopefully someone will have recorded sucessfully and will share! |

Sorry for the triple post. Wackiness here at the internet cafe in Manchester. Two words: Brilliant show. Word from a good source says even the guys in the band were stunned by it. Actually, the quote is "stucking funning!" If they were on fire at Newcastle, they were thermonuclear last night. Always a danger when components of the nuclear device are kept to close together . . . they begin to react! Raincoats off! to the fans at the end of the catwalk who threw the condoms at Rog. It's always good to see him laugh. God I love that guy! It would be fun to see an avalanche of condoms thrown at Birmingham. I wonder how far you can Frisbee a condom. Of course, blown up the just float . . . might be a thing . . . Rog and Brian kind of apologized in advance for any unnecessary roughness with "Under Pressure," but who the eff cared that it was rough, it was still GREAT and a terrific treat. Evidently AOBTD was also done at the sound check yesterday. Would have liked to hear Bri go into a few of his raging chords used for the Buckhouse roof version of GSTQ when he ascended the stairs, as that performance is one of my favorite moments in rock music, and I'm not even FROM here! Totally loved the mirror ball effect with Last Horizon. Actually held one of the beams of light in my palm while the ball was static. I thought Paul was brilliant. He's earning even more of my respect. He seems to be enjoying himself up there. I don't think you could wipe the smile off with sandpaper. He sounds great. Works the crowd well. I thought the mike spinning would be cheesy, but it actually works. What a voice! It will be interesting to see where this goes. All that said, he did hit a screecher, but then BFD. One lukewarm thing I could say is that, to me, "CLTCL" hits me like it's a cover. Something (other than the brilliant FM) is missing, and CLTCL is (IMHO) Queen at their most fun. I know others might disagree. I like Paul's vocals on it, but to me, it just comes off like a cover, where I'd say the rest of the songs come off as original. Maybe it's the funky, space-age guitars. Don't know. I don't hate it, though. I thought the place died a bit with AKOM, I looked around and saw many people sitting. I like AKOM and don't know what the deal is, but that's one that COULD and SHOULD get everyone going. I like Paul's vocals on it. "Say It's Not True" slows things down a bit, but obviously, this one is important to them. I always like to hear Rog sing though . . . something about that growling . . . know what I mean, ladies? Rog gave the growl at the intro to "I'm in Love with My Car" a RIGHT PASTING he did! No tiger skin trousers to go with it though. No rude comments please. It's Roger Taylor we're talking about here! I thought he played well last night. Good energy while playing. No one, least of all not Roger, said drumming is easy. I recall that even in the mid 1980s he would seem to be totally out of gas by the time his hair was sticking to his head, but would still do the lingering big finishes. He's got a lot in reserve, and there's always his stupefying time/space defying cymbal grab. Roger's A-OK in my book. Brian was in top form last night, seemed to be having the time of his life, he plays best when he's having fun, and he eats up the attention he's getting. We're creating a monster! ;-) He never ceases to amaze me. Just in-freaking-credible. The solo did (and always does) knock me right on my ass. (sorry, no other way for me to put it.) I'm listening to the Wembley version on my iPod right now. He just always blows me away. What a guy, what a guitarist. Sheesh! Jamie, and Danny seemed to be more in evidence last night, although Spike is in the dark over there on stage right. I seem to recall him being more prominent in the past. What up wi' dat? Jamie did a lot of backup singing. Danny's got the climb the st |

It was absolutely brilliant, I am still in a state of shock, I was at the front, I just can't believe the position I got, I was on the right hand side of the catwalk directly in line with Brian when he was sat on the stool. What a memory! |

Sinply amazing. I have been in a daze all day and just downloaded a bunch of the tracks from the Queen site (cannot wait until the Manchester tracks are online) and have been reliving them all evening. I cannot stress how much this concert has meant to me, being a young un (25) I never thought it possible I would get to see Queen on tour (my first real exposure to their music was watching the Freddie tribute concert on TV). By the way, when they had Freddie on the big screen for the opening to BoRhap, did any one else make believe that he was just just out of view at the side of the stage sitting at his piano. Magical stuff. Other vivid memories will be the crowd belting out "Ready Freddie" during CLTCL, Last Horizon (and the mirrorball), Under Pressure (the pregnant pause in the announcement where I thought for a second they would announce the presence of either John Deacon or David Bowie), singing Love of my Life with 10,000 other fans with a tear in my eye, condom throwing, Peter Kay. |

The bit about throwing condoms at Roger, Jamie & Danny is from a joke that Roger made at Newcastle the night before about Danny wearing 2. (I think) |

I went to Manchester last night!!! I can’t describe in words how excellent it was! I didn't realise how good Brian and Roger can sing live. Paul Rodgers has one of the best voices ever, even if he did have throat problems. The video clips of Freddie were great, especially when the audience went crazy over seeing him on the screen. ‘Love of my life’ was sung beautifully by Brian and the audience, everyone seemed really emotional. I cant think of any bad points at all, apart from the big surprise being 'Under Pressure' The way Peter Kay was making such a big deal, I was expecting Deacon to appear on stage, but no such luck :-( Oh and all through the show I had a boring old man at the side of me who kept shouting tosser at Brian every time he went into his guitar solo! He also kept telling me to sit down cos he couldn’t see, I’m 5ft 3! Anyway his bag was at the side of me, so I spilt nearly a full bottle of Pepsi on it! By accident of course :-D |

Great concert, last saw them in Liverpool at the Empire in 1979! Just found the pictures I took that night, made me laugh, FM on the shoulders of Superman! Also found the concert programme (£2.50 I think?) and a couple of badges in a dusty box in the loft. Got some nice pics from this one also, digital this time though! Concert information was terrible, I rang and was told, no support (true) show starts at 7.30 and main act(?) on at 8.30! Nearly right, but a rush to get there from work for 7.30 just in case. Personally I thought Kind of Magic was OK, not as bad as people had said. Hope all who went will enjoy the memories and pictures of this concert for years to come, I feel lucky to have seen them originally but would not have missed this for the world. |

The Manchester gig was absolutely brilliant. We got there at about 7pm and by the time we'd purchased programmes and beverages we were on the arena floor for just after 7.45pm. My only worry prior to the show was being stuck behind a 7ft tall member of the Brian May Hairdo Appreciation Society and therefore not getting a very good view of the stage. Also I was slightly apprehensive about the thought of having to queue up at about 5pm to get a good view in the arena. Anyway it was bollocks to that idea and as it happened everything turned out brilliantly. We decided to head towards the right hand side of the stage where Brian would be and we ended up quite near the front. Whenever they went down the catwalk we still had a good view of them even though they may not have been facing us. But if I was to recommend any part of the arena floor to stand I'd say on the right hand side near the front. We didn't want to get too close to the stage and have to crane our necks to see the action. I was made up with the position we had on the arena floor. The show from start to finish was just superb. Despite all the reservations about Paul Rodgers he did a brilliant job. Totally loved Brian's guitar solo and Last Horizon. He sounded at the absolute top of his game despite any interference from the local taxi cab firm! The lights at the end of his solo were truly magnificent, quite a sight to behold. Was amazed at how well Roger played on the drums. After reading posts on this noticeboard about how Roger was getting too old etc, absolute bollocks to that. Roger looked and sounded, like Brian, like he was at the top his game despite the ageing factor. Can't really say that I had a favourite part of the night, I loved every second of it. Some moments worth mentioning were during Bo Rhap the video of Freddie appearing on the screen and the old footage of Queen during These Are The Days. Some quality ad-lib when Roger sang, before the guitar solo on These Are The Days, "When I look and I find Brian May". Absolute fucking classic. Just when I thought the concert couldn't get any better (apart from a Deaky appearance) out popped PK and Patrick McGuinness before the encore. I couldn't fucking believe it, as a huge fan of them both the night was getting better. The banter on stage was top quality. The only downside of the night for me was drinking 2 pints before the start and needing to go the toilet during "Crazy Little Thing" :( Fortunately as I was near the safety barrier one of the security personnel moved the barrier for me so I could run the toilet without having to wade through everybody. Top marks to the security there even though they needed some persuasion. Despite the fact that cameras may not have been allowed into the arena there were plenty of them about. I noticed that one security guy would only pounce on someone with a camera if it was only them taking a picture, not when it was about 50 people. The whole evening was simply amazing; I just cannot iterate anymore how unbelievable it was seeing Brian and Roger play live and seeing them perform so close up. As a 20 year old fan of Queen this was pretty much a dream come true and, as I'm sure, for many other Queen fans who never had the chance to see them live. |

I never expected it to be that amazing. I'm so gutted I've got no tickets for any other shows. My highlight was '39 and Love of my Life. Definitely drop AKOM though, I never really liked it much anyway. I'm still coming down from it all, it was the best night of my life. |

Pics are up in the gallery (4xMacMan), turned out quite good, even if I do say so myself! |

From a Yorkie and Leeds Fan its hard for me to say but give me Manchester MEN over Sheffield ANY time.I've been to stacks of concerts at Sheffield Hallam FM Arena (to give it its proper name so as not to confuse the non-locals who are going on Monday) and I've never had a problem queuing, getting in, keeping my ticket stubs, travelling ... OK, it's in a fairly built-up and populated area and obviously I know the shortcuts, rat-runs and free parking. Is there a venue on earth where you don't queue endlessly for the loos or the refreshments (serves you right if you want to go to the bar and get ripped off) and I don't think that the fact that Elton John and Stereophonics died on their arses there is anything to do with the venue. The only thing security don't like is dancing in the aisles and standing on seats, but that's the same for most places. |

Just another thing, I found the security at Sheffield absolutely fine as always. BUT I am fed up going to the Arena, paying my £5 parking fee and being ushered around by stewards telling me where to park the car and generally keeping traffic running smoothly. Fine. What really f*cks me off is the total free for all when you come out of the concert. Not a steward in site and road rage everywhere. Something has to be done about this before I ram my way through ignorant drivers who suddenly go blind and deaf when you are trying to join a queue. *sigh* rant over |
