I've been a Queen-fan since 1976, but since now I am a big fan of Paul Rodgers too. I've seen them perform in Antwerpen, but this was better. The audience went crazy, everybody was singing and enjoying the music. And off course Roger Taylor and Brian May were great. But for me Paul Rodgers is the one that made it happen. Just by standing out there, singing Queen songs, not trying to copy Freddie's act, giving his own bluesy interpretation of the songs we all know so well... Being out there on stage surrounded by all these hugh fans of Queen.. having the courage to do it... I think it was GOOD! I loved it, I'm glad I was there. This is gonna be a very good memory for me. And Paul.. thanks for singing and performing, you've done a great job!!! |
zorba 26.04.2005 19:22 |
It was marvelous! Incredible performance And oh my god, the lights were wonderful! Het was fantastisch jongens, echt toppie! Man man, ik ging echt uit mn dak daar! THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!!! WE ROCKED AHOY! |

Omg, the crowd went crazy!!! :D Full report tomorrow now I'm off for my bed. |

Hey guys, Just got home from Rotterdam. I must say ... Brixton was special ... but this gig really rocked!!!!!! Indeed, the light show, the setlist (or order of the songs as you like), ... the whole show went very smooth. I had some very good critics with me (3 non-queen fans) ... and they were gazing with big eyes of disbelieve at what was happening in front of them ... it just was absolutely fantastic We were standing beside the catwalk, a great spot may I say ... Brian was in great shape, as well as Roger and Paul seems fully recovered The Highlights: Love Of My Life (a-gain), I Want It All, Feel Like Makin' Love and Fat Bottomed Girls ... yeah they are really getting me this time (I even started to like Last Horizon for god sake) Liked the light-show for A Kind Of Magic, but still it is a bit weak ... faster, or just another song in it's place, ... I dunno See ya at the Gelredome at Arnhem (I'm actually thinking of getting some Hyde Park tickets) p.s.: some fans were standing with papers in their hands spelling out L.O.N.G.A.W.A.Y. Brian did see that, but didn't play it ... that was a bit of a pity (although I prefer '39) |
Rien 26.04.2005 20:52 |
Cannot add anything new to the earlier remarks about the Rotterdam gig I think. The band had fun and they rocked from start to finish. Amazing, this energy. And indeed the lightshow is so awesome! A deep bow and a high five to the band of Queen + Paul Rodgers. My pics can be seen on my site! |
Jjeroen 26.04.2005 22:16 |
What to add to that?? Definately the best show of the tour! (Honestly! ;-) By the way: the show lasted twenty minutes longer then usual! No, the setlist was the same, but they did some extra bits and pieces like extended solo's and stuff. Also Brighton Rock lasted a LOT longer then on the other dates! So Holland got something a little bit special afterall... ;-) |
The Mir@cle 27.04.2005 02:14 |
Great to hear all the positive reactions.... It's sad I've missed it. |
Mr. Scully 27.04.2005 02:33 |
> p.s.: some fans were standing with papers in their hands > spelling out L.O.N.G.A.W.A.Y. Brian did see that, but > didn't play it ... that was a bit of a pity (although I > prefer '39)" We were shouting "Long Away" at several gigs, Brian heard us but no chance... I even told him we want to hear Long Away when I met him in Leipzig... but he didn't seem to be willing to do that. In Budapest he decided himself that he wants to try it again (and it fit nicely with Tavaszi Szel following). I don't think we can influence the setlist in any way. And of course, in Budapest most people didn't know the words either so it wasn't a success. Don't know if Brian plays it again. |
Jay Mantis 27.04.2005 04:37 |
It was an absolutely amazing experience!! Queen and Paul Rodgers were in excellent form! You all shoud've seen the crowd when they played We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions! Ebem Brian said during Love Of My Life that we were the best audience so far of this tour!!! :-D |
Cool Cat 27.04.2005 04:47 |
The night after...WOW What an amazing esperience it was indeed! They really rocked the place and it seems like they were enjoying themselves too. Making jokes and stuff. Like Roger introducing the band and when he comes to Spike he says:"He's not from the USA, he's from no where really" LOL The piont were it was just too big for me was when they sang These are the days of our lives. With clips of Freddie on the backgroud. I shed some tears during that song... It was such a great evening, it happened just too fast, well off we go to Arhnem! :) |
Fenderek 27.04.2005 04:56 |
Shame there's still no Seagull... Are we gonna hear it again...? |
Richard Lopata (new email) 27.04.2005 05:13 |
Seagull? Mwah, not to keen on that Roger also sang during TATDOOL "And I look, and I find ... Brian May" Brian nailed the solo note for note by the way (better than in Brixton) |
zorba 27.04.2005 07:35 |
This was BY FAR the most impressive thing i've ever expierenced (wrong spell but ok haha) Now off to buy tickets for Gelredome, won't miss that for gold. Om kippenvel van te krijgen zo goed! |
Mr. Scully 27.04.2005 08:04 |
I'm not surprised - Dutch audience is always good. But the Italian gigs must have been great too :-) |

There was supposed to be a news-item at the Dutch program 'Twee Vandaag' apparently Brian got angry with the reporters and the item may not be broadcasted |

Richard Lopata (new email) wrote: There was supposed to be a news-item at the Dutch program 'Twee Vandaag' apparently Brian got angry with the reporters and the item may not be broadcastedYes you're right. There was gonna be an item in this program about Queen. The reporter asked Brian a question about BoRhap and Brian didn't wanted to answer this question and told him so, but he kept pushing so Brian walked away. Conclusion: They all got in a car and drove away, probably no item on tv, and no Queen at the afterparty (so all very dissapionted really) |
Cool Cat 27.04.2005 12:57 |
Just heard on tv that there will be an item about Queen tomorrow on tv! Watch it all people who can! Between 6pm and 7pm on channel 2(ned 2) |
i'm going slight mad... 27.04.2005 13:19 |
i don't understand. the crowd was really quiet, how can you say they went crazy? Brian even commented on it to us, before starting his 'solo' section. and i even think i saw brian mouth something along the lines of 'what's gonig on, why aren't they making some noise?' to paul rodgers. maybe where you were the crowd was noisy, but not were i was standing. oh well, i was maknig enough noise for everyone! this concert was such an amazing experience for me, i have waited my whole life for this! it was so incredible, but also very surreal that after having seen so many videos with my idols in them, they were actually there, 2 meters in front of me. i swear i thought i was going to pee in my pants. unfortunately as well, the band left straight away and i didn't have time to get round to the players entrance and harras them into talking to me. oh well, maybe next time, when they go on tour prommoting the album that they're going to start working on early next year. (well, i can alwways dream can't i?) |

(well, i can alwways dream can't i?)I totally agree with you and i go on in dutch becauce thaty;s easier. Het is mij ook opgevallen dat het op zich te rustig was mijns inzien... Hiermee bedoel ik natuurlijk niet de echte queenfans die wel helemaal losgingen. Neem bijvoorbeeld We Will Rock You, en Radio GaGa. We Rocked Ahoy, We Will Rock Gelredome See you there~!! |

..... I went yesterday with my girlfriend and a friend of mine... I succeeded in carrying a videocamera with me.. but after more than an hour of filming the security spotted me and took the tapes and the camera... DAMN!!! After the concert they gave me the camera back... without the tape of course.. During and after the concert i never thought i was looking to Queen... I'm a little disappointed... The music was ok... but in a certain way, it isn't the music that stole my heart. Just once during the whole concert i feld a little magic.. Brian was playing the Bohemian Rapsody solo.. backed up by Freddie on the videoscreen. I'm not a fan of the music they played. Maybe we go to Arnhem to look and judge again.. Dicky |

Rien 27.04.2005 15:52 |
the crowd not reacting...? Amazing, where I was standing, right at the end of the catwalk the crowd went crazy and I looked at the people in their seats and they reacted great too. I've never heard a crowd so alive after the band had left the stage for the first time, it was like the place would be torn down because of the shouting, whistling and stamping going on! This crowd was alive in my view! |
haarinmeglas 27.04.2005 16:36 |
I have to agree with some people here. The audience was a bit silent. Don't know why. Even where I stood (about 3 m. from the stage) some people were a bit lame. I started shouting and jumping a few times, but all I got was strange faces. Nobody joined. Strange. But, that doesn't mean I had the time of my life. I've been to the Paris gig, but this one was much better. And... deep respect for Paul Rodgers. I had the chance to shoot some pictures too. Quality isn't that great (read: some pics are crap), but maybe you'll enjoy them anyway. Visit my site to see them: link See you all in Arnhem! I'll be the tall guy in front of the stage ;-) Michel. PS: Hi to the guys I met in queue (quilting rules!) and during the concert (thanks for buying the beer!) |

I have some crappy pictures from the lower seatings on the left side, but a lot of the (soundless :'( ) movies are great because you can see the lightshow :P 41.7 MB Unzipped, 15 .MOV movie files (no sound) and 89 (not the best quality :P) pictures. You can download it here: link On behalf of users who really want these pictures, please don't download them if you don't really looking for it... Not even if you just want to tease those folks :P Btw: on the pictures at the outside of Ahoy you can see the_hero :D |

rien, i agree, when the and went off the crowd went crazy. and afterwards, when they came back on the crowd was still pretty good, but before that...nothing. maybe, people really did just want to listen, or something. i was standing next to the catwalk in the middle by the way so not very far away from you. the people in the rings were dead, it seemed to me. |

I just read Brian's soapbox and he confirms what I already thought: The audience rocked!!!! The band did as well. I knew what to expect from Brian and Roger (allthough I wasn't sure if they could reach that level, which they absolutely did!) but I was pleasantly surprised by Paul's performance. What a singer he is! And what a good choice by Brian and Roger.! I won't be forgetting this concert soon and can't wait till Arnhem. |
