Just wondering how much of this actually exists in the public domain? Rien recently made available the BBC Breakfast news clip on his sie.
Its got me thinking because in the recent Queen Mania (Yes I know it was awful!) documentary on ITV, they showed very brief footage from the rehearsals where Freddie is singing standing up and not at the piano.
As far as I know know Queen Tour rehearsal footage is pretty rare (apart from the one on LAW DVD) - unless somone can correct me?
I know they rehearsed the entire week prior to Live Aid at London's Shaw Theater. It never ocurred to me...now it DOES, Eureka! that Queen might have audio and video recorded those rehearsals....That would be fantastic if they did.
Where is the surprise?
Surely it's obvious that the band would want rehearsals filmed / recorded in order for them to get an idea of how they will look to their audience.........
All kinds of material will exist *somewhere*, but it's unlikely that it much of it remains with the band - camera men are very likely to have copies.
It's just like Bill Graham's archive - he recorded EVERY show played at the Fillmores East & West from '68 to '73. NONE (or very little) has ever been released back to the bands. It's probably THE single most important music archive on the planet - some of it was destroyed in a fire in the late 90's, but ther eis still a wealth of footage left. Whet it is is only known to the BG Estate.
I have a short clip of them rehearsing Bohemian Rhapsody and Radio Ga Ga. An interview then follows. If you're interested, add me to msn or i can email it to you chris_doe163@hotmail.com
