Well, the concert just finished and hour and a half ago and now I'm home with all this energy runing through my body.
We got there quite early at 19:20 expecting the doors to open at around 20:00 since the gig started at 21:30....or at least that's what it said....after waiting and waiting in the cold windy weather time just went by but the doors remained closed until 21:20!!! Obviously there was no way they were going to get those 18.000 people inside in 10 minutes so we got to the conclusion something had delayed the show....It started an hour late!!!
Once in, we got a nice seat quite near the stage on the side with a great view.
I must say it was a great show and I think the setlist was exactly the same as Paris:
1. Reachin Out
2. Tie your mother down
3. Can't get enough of your love
4. I want to break free
5. Fat bottomed girls
6. Crazy little thing called love
7. Seagull
8. '39
9. Love of my life (Brian May solo)
10. Hammer to fall
11. A little bit of love
12. I'm in love with my car
13 Brighton rock
14. Last horizon
15. . These are the days of our lives
16. Radio Ga Ga
17. I want it all
18. A kind of magic
19. Feel like making love
20. Bohemian Rhapsody
21. The Show must go on
22. All right now
23. We will rock you
24. We are the champions
25. God Save The Queen
I had never heard Paul Rodgers voice before, but I have to say I think he has a great voice, the most emotional moment was probally Brian doing "Love Of My Life" (he dedicated it to Freddie in spanish) and the rest was just great, there was a funny moment when a guy managed to get on stage and tried to put some kind of Santa's hat on Paul but they got him down quickly!!! I'm glad to have been around to live this great day!
Pictures will be posted very soon!
Yes!! Great show!!
Brian was crying in LOML?? He seemed very moved.
What about the surprise???? Waiting in a rainy evening??? Or the asshole who jumped on stage during Champions??????
(Posted in another trhead)
So I went there and all I can say is that IT ABSOLUTELY ROCKED! I was a little esceptic, but it was just awesome, I didn't expect that feelings.
The show started with a reduced version of the Track 13 and then came the so-called 'surprise': Eminem's song. I didn't see the point of that.
Anyway, Paul appeared, sung a few lines and that heavy unforgetable guitar sound made me get goose gimples at the time I shouted to my friend (who challenged me to guess the first song): I was right! Tie Your Mother Down! And like a school-girl I started shouting and rumbling on my chair at the time I saw my legends playing a song I have been always listening as a record, but this time they were playing it live for me.
This is what someone who has always dreamed of assisting to a Queen concert feels when they finally get tha chance.
Thos who said that this tour is a fake and should not be done are ignorants: I still want more!!
Well, the concert went surprisingly fine. I didn't hear Paul until then, and I got really impressed of his voice. He didn't outstanded a lot, as the main characteres were our two guys. The three were on fire, and it seems like time doesn't affect to Brian, as he still rocks.
I find that shamely the Rodger's songs didn't fit well, cause it ruined the climax (IMO). Although the people on the stands (where I was) were singing along and waving arms and that sort of things, just a very little few people stood up throughout the concert. The fact is that I feel like people were so atonished that didn't know how to act. At least is what I felt... I just wanted to stand up and jump and sing along, but people didn't seem to share my feelings.
But that changed when all the stadium keep quiet while Freddie sang the first part of Bohemian Rhapsody. People went crazy when the opera section was playing and finally all the stadium stood up and jumped, and screamed and went mad when the rock section exploited.
The whole concert was very touching. Freddie wasn't forgotten, Freddie was there. Things like the empty chair when singing Love of My life. The clips of Freddie on the screen. It was another tribute.
As I said, Paul didn't seem to try to imitate Freddie, and that's really good and hopeful for forcoming projects.
As other people have pointed, Roger couldn't reach some notes during I'm In Love With My Car. And Brian's solo wasn't brilliant. But in the end I have had the best concert I woulnd't have expected.
Note: During The Show Must Go On, a Catalan flag was standed on Brian's mic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Note2: During We Are The Champions, a guy with a typical catalan cap appeared on stage and ran across the catwalk reaching Paul with the intention of put the cap in Paul's head. Paul got scared ant the bodyguards knocked that bastard out. It seems it's a famous bugger that appears in football matches and those kind of shows if you pay him.
Sorry for my english.
Brian didn't cry during LOML, if you saw a tear falling down from his head it would have been a tear of sweat.
And it wasn't a Santa's cap, it was a typical catalan cap.
