Hi there,
I'm a huge fan of both Queen and Black Sabbath (and Ozzy of course).. but, has Freddie (or Queen)ever said something about Ozzy and Black Sabbath?
I found a "relation" between Brian and Black Sabbath and Iommi.. but nothing about the rest of the band..
Can anybody give me some information??
Thanks man!
Dicky Heart
Hey Dicky, I'm a big Ozzy and Sabbath fan too! ;-)
As far as I know there is not a single connection beteen ozz and Queen (except that they were both at the Queen's Jubilea gig).
Brian is a different story! He's big buddies with Tony Iommi, played with Sabbath both on record as on stage, he was at the Tribte, they did The Stonk togther and the Smoke On The Water thing. Those last are the only links with Roger, though.
Other Sabs: Brian played with Tony Martin
(And as far as Ian Gillan counts for Sabbath the Smoke On The Water thing ;-)
Not to mention Cozy Powell and Neil Murray...!
But about saying nice things about eachother in public Tony and Brian is as far as it goes.
(As far as I know)
It's unbelievable how even the fan community of Black Sabbath know so little about thier own group. Brian May played with Black Sabbath on a studio song on some release around 1988 and I can't remember exactly on what though. Brian also played on a solo recording that Toni Iommi did with his first solo record a few years ago that featured the lead singer from the Foo Fighters Dave Grohl.
Brian played on "WHEN DEATH CALLS" from the 1988 "HEADLESS CROSS" album. In 2000/2001 he also played on "GOODBYE LAMENT" and "FLAME ON" from Tony Iommi's "IOMMI" solo-project.

Listen to the album closely (actually- it's pretty obvious...) and you'll hear SON AND DAUGHTER riff...
Eric Singer played for Black Sabbath on the "Seventh Star" tour and album and also on "The Eternal Idol".
I think that Sabbath had an influence on Queen's sound at the very beginning (check out "Queen" and "Master Of Reality"). Brian plays on Tony Iommi's first solo album, they are really good friends. At the Tribute, they play together the "Heaven And Hell"-riff before "I Want It All", but it's rather strange to see Iommi playing rhythm guitar on "The Show Must Go On"...

I already know your info(read!), but my question was if there is any connection between Ozzy and Freddie.. or Freddie and Black Sabbath..
