I've often seen messages here about freddie's best shows but can anyone point me out some less good one.I'm talking vocalwise of course, the rest was always pure magic,I think.
Many of his shows on The Works tour were less than spectacular - I know one show I have, 9/29/84 (I think) from Vienna, was particularly bad. His voice was cracking left and right, and he had to keep going down to a lower register for most of the songs.
he told in an interview, that he felt bad about one show in particulair, because he really lost his voice that night and had to sing monotone..
I can't remember wich one it was, but I thought it was in their beginning period
freddie always had trouble with "nodes" in the throat his voice was the type where u couldnt hide the soaring vocal bits, so he would drop a key he did it a lot on the magic tour esp a kind of magic he just went down the scale which personally im pleased about the press always hounded them. for them too say he couldnt sing live would have wrecked everythin........
Maybe the one in Hannover when he fell down and injured his knee :-),... or the one (that i can't remember where) when he loses his voice completely and has to cancel the show..
He had to cancel quite a lot of shows on their first headlining US-Tour, so I guess a few of the shows before he had problems as well.
Even later on when they got used to long tours he had problems with his voice. I have a bootleg from Seattle '76 or '77, in which he has has quite severe problems during "White Man". But what he lacks in range in that show he compensates with pure energy. That man could rock an audience even with a bad cold (Hammy '75)!

It was show in San Francisco, but I don't know when. I believe it was not in their beginning period.
Thats the best thing about Freddie ! We can talk about different performances, good or bad by his standards, but compared to most groups, they always had great shows !
Yeah, the word 'show' ... Even if he had voice problems, eg. a bad cold, he could still do a great show ! That's why there is only 1 Freddie Mercury !
Wembley '86. My throat hurts by the end of the show.
But I'm glad they released it just to show what a big place Queen played. But I can't listen to it...ugh.
