Yep, thats true, with about 250 concerts the US is No. 1 in the statistic.
In fact Queen had a short period of time, when they were REALLY huge there. 1980 the played Madison Square Garden 3 consecutive nights and the Forum in LA 4 nights for example.
in fact they played four consecutive dates in New York's Madison Square Garden in 1980.
the 82 tour was good too, even with only two NYC MSG, two LA forum, two in Chicago Poplar creek outdoor arena, and two at Irvine outdoor Amphiteater !!!

I was at one of those MSG shows and let me tell you, they ROCKED. Freddie came out on Darth Vader's shoulders during WWRY. He knocked over a speaker during SHA and started to beat it with his microphone. I also saw them at MSG during the Hot Space tour as well. It's sad that America snubbed them after Hot Space, as they never toured here again.

I am SO glad you brought this up and that you are one of the lucky people who actually saw the concert (in the USA), where Freddie sat on Darth Vader's shoulders.
I am a huge Star Wars fan and I have seen photos of Freddie doing that...and I STILL crack up every time.
I know in the song Bicycle Race Freddie sings the lyrics ''And I don't like Star Wars''. Guess he meant it too!
To all the Star Wars fans out there (btw Brian is Too!), what do you all think about Freddie ''Riding'' atop Darth Vader?
When I first saw one of those pictures of Freddie sitting on Darth Vader's shoulders on some bootleg artwork, I thought it was fake and that someone just photoshoped Darth Vader's head into a picture with Freddie sitting on Superman's shoulders. :-)
It's an nice gag, like him throwing bananas or roses into the audience, or the naked girls during bycicle race - a bit sexistic, but hey, it's only rock'n'roll but I like it... ;-)
To add to the topic, I would LOVE to see a documentary about Queen live in the US. I have a bootleg of Seattle '77 and it sounds like beatlemania, they are screaming their lungs out. Great mood in the audience.
Of course we are all eagerly awaiting a possible release of Houston. At least those who have not seen the video yet. (me too)
I always wondered why they did not film a N.Y.C. show in their career. It was discussed in this forum before, and somenone came up with the very tight restricitions from MSG concerning copyright, but so many artists have released their MSG-shows... ?! Someone also added that filming in the US is pretty expensive, but come on... the guys were huge at the time and shovelling money... ;-)
What are your thoughts ?

The thing about Houston '77 is the audience is quiet. Queen may have played well but when the audience are quiet it ruins it IMO. I've got a Chicago concert from '78 and the audience are having a great time. It just has a better feeling.
