Do you know PR's stuff ?
I' m a Queen fan for 24 years and even though I know about the existence of Paul Rodgers I've never been a fan or even bought a Free or a Bad Company record.
But I decided to bought some Paul's recordings to see what he's doing. Well, he's the new Queen main vocalist...
So I decided to bought a Live CD, and today, I bought "Bad Company in concert : Merchants of cool" (2002).
VERY Great stuff. Soulful, hard rocking, great voice. I hope they will play some PR material (well, not too much, this isn't a PR tou but a Queen tour).
So people :
Listen to "Can't get enough", "Feel like Makin'love", and above all the track "Bad Company" : Brian could KILL on this one ! Sounds wonderful.
For how long something happened in the Queen world? This will be exciting and FRESH.
We're so lucky.
I've never heard any Free songs or Bad Company songs. So if they play Paul Rogers songs during the tour and i go to see Queen it'll be something a little different. Hopefully Brian will beable to nudge in a couple of amazing guitar solos here and there.
Sorry folks - but since this news has broken I've gone and listened to three of Paul Rodgers solo albums (as I was already familiar with Free and Bad company)
People keep going on about how he's some kind or rock legend or icon - in my opinion he's just like a heavier version of Rod Stewart. His solo albums are pretty weak too. I found two decent songs on three albums! Has anyone else listened to his solo stuff?
I have the album Muddy Water Blues which features Paul on vocals and some amazing guest guitarists including Brian May , Slash and Steve Miller among others. I find the album very good.
Ignore the bulk of the Bad Company material - they were a compriomise caused by the demise of Free.
To get the best taste of what Paul is / was capable of, try to get hold of either "Tons Of Sobs", "Free Live" or "Free" - available widely on Amazon.com Alternatively, get hold of the "Songs Of Yesterday" box set.
