_queenie_ wrote: ok .. intresting topic tho rather confusing!Good answer. THANKS FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION! Anyway, I don't think Freddie was concerned about living or dying; he'd already made his millions and had his adoring fans, but I think the thing he was concerned about was that he made so much music left in him. That's why, in the last three or four years of his life, he managed to record his dream album with Montserrat Caballe, two full Queen albums plus lots of additional material, and even some songs for a potential third album. |

I think Freddie really did mean it. It just seems like it would fit his personality so well. |

He did what he had to do, left without any fuss. |

I thoght I read an interview in the 70's that asked him where he would be or would he be doing in his life in 20 years, and he said I'll probably be dead. Who knows |

Bad grammar is bad grammar, but let's not forget not everyone on the internet speaks/writes english as their native tongue. As for what Freedie meant...only he knows. |
Robin 12.10.2004 19:58 |
He was quoted once as saying, "I don't plan to make old bones." Also, when asked how he would like to be remembere he said, "who cares, I'll be dead." Or words to that effect. I don't really think he was scared of dying or thought that he would live a long life. |
deleted user 12.10.2004 20:46 |
I think he accept death as unavoidable so he knew he would have to face it. He also recognized the consequences of his lifestyle but apparently decided he would rather have a short more enjoyable life, then a longer more careful one. |

Fa dems ooh sayin bout da tongue vibes me say damn right too!! Uk lingo aint no one playas tongues in this joint, we either som foreign or minupilataz! seen?! sorry people I just had to do that, lov it when we criticise on straight talking and shit.. its funny! ( oh will mordernisation ever be excepted) [apart from SMS mobile texting jibberrish] Freddie rocks, one lov for Elton Johns' candle in the wind it relates to everyone! and Queens only the good die young, damn that relates.... but as Mercury goes.. one love for being a lyrical poet which som in here thinks prophecies to his out comes of events, and for being the hottest raw burning star of his time... truly a trailblazer, in the end blazing himself into thin air. But the force is still with us! that is all we need to worry about dont pick about the pass cos its all technically driven not natural, interviewing techniques, manners, artistic expression thats all it was, the only thing you must remember Mercury took full advantage of his powers and capabilities... what rocker!! |

Freddie was a man, am I correct? Is there any human being that´s at least a bit afraid of death? Just curious...Are you guys? |

Alfreddie wrote: Interesting topic...but I'm not scared of dying. *evil smile*Right, you're only 14... when I was 14, I wasn't scared of dying either. In fact, I never thought about death then. Now I'm 18 and let me tell you that it scares me a bit (or more), as I realise that everything must eventually come to an end (even if this happens in the next 90 years or so, it'll still come to an end). I'm just not prepared to accept that someday my life will be no more. You know, I jst can't help thinking whether there'll be an afterlife or not... queenie wrote: ok .. intresting topic tho rather confusing!Wow! queenie and Mrs. Badguy finally at peace?! I guess that he didn't regret anything, he died with a smile on his face and in his mid - fories he did more than most people possibly could do in their entire life. I guess "The Show Must Go On" even it was written by Brian, was indeed Freddie's credo and it helped him to live and to face death without fear. |
deleted user 13.10.2004 17:21 |
hmm...but I do think about it! A lot. Or at least more than I should. I was taken to a psychiatrist because everyone thought I was going to kill myself because Freddie died. *tries to sound convincing* Which, by the way, I wasn't. |

<font color=purple>BaltoMaynia wrote: I think Roger said it best: "If you're frightened of dying, you ain't really alive."yes, very true. think about it, when you're dead you don't care anymore. Death is the only thing in life that is absolutely 100% certain that it will happen, no matter when or how but it's the only thing we can be sure of and it belongs to life as much as birth. I'm not afraid to die. Why should we be? I'm just afraid of suffering before dying. So...yes, I think Freddie meant it. He lived his life to the full, he did everything, he could have anything he wanted because he worked his ass off and he knew it. I think he was satisfied. He couldn't have achieved much more! |

The way I read the question was "was Freddie making a prediction?" Personally I don't think he was, depending on when the quote was from. To my mind he started to age noticeably between 1984 and 1986. He might've spotted that and begun to wonder why. If his comments were made around that time or even later he might've been hinting. But personally I don't think he was hinting: He had enough self control to plan and execute the "nobody really knows until I tell them the day before I die" strategy. Freddie was more in control of himself than he's generally been given credit for, I think. |
