I know its an old Alice Cooper song. the only time I heard it when when GnR played a couple of lines at the tribute. All I can say is........ This has become one of my fave songs ever! I always thought Alice Cooper was a bit too gimmicky for my liking. This song is superb.
Guns N' Roses played it at the Freddie Mercury Tribute?
I thought they only played 'Paradise City', and 'Knockin' On Heaven's Doors'?
Unless you're refering to the little part where Axl was singing before kicking off 'Knockin' On Heaven's Doors'.
Have you listened to the Julie Covington (Coventon?) version?
It was released as a single in the UK c1977 (Top 10 - I think). I also think it was her follow-up to "Don't Cry For Me Argentina".
The point is she's a woman - therefore she could sing it with much more genuine feeling (or "soul" - if you like) than Cooper (or any other man) ever could.
It really is a superb version.
