Anyone else enjoy this movie?
I'm watching this for the first time in many, many years and I'm really enjoying it. Sure it's a bit cheesy.. a lot of 80s movies are, but I think it's swiss compared to the average cheesy film. Not without holes, but tastier than processed American sandwich slices. And you get to hear 'One Vision' several times which doesn't hurt.
I got the DVD in the bargain bin for $5.88. It's nothing to rave about.. open-matte full frame, above average quality, good 5.1 mix which seems to be genuine, no real extras or anything but the price was right.
Oh, and I have a question.. do you think this qualifies as being part of my Queen collection? I'm thinking yes :-P
I've got the soundtrack in LP format, and it's definately part of my Queen collection along things like Metropolis, Biggles and others compilations including Queen tracks.
Yeah, I can understand the soundtrack being worthy of inclusion. I just wasn't sure if the DVD should qualify. LOL
I see that Europe got a widescreen DVD.
I also see that the original release date was January 17, 1986 which strengthens my argument that the 'single version' of One Vision should actually be called 'original version' and certainly not an 'edit'.
Here's the deal: The single and 'extended' version came out, followed by Iron Eagle and its soundtrack which also has the 4:00 version. When the album came out fully 5 months later, it contains what is actually an edit of the extended version. It's identical except for the extra drum/instrumental part. They probably wanted longer than the ORIGINAL version for the album, but thought 6:28 was a bit much so they cut one bit from the extended version and called it the album version.
In summary: the single, Iron Eagle and Greatest Hits II version of One Vision is the original version, not an edit. Thank you.
:-P
