There's an online comic called PVP, which is mostly about video games and the business of a video game magazine. Anyway, one strip mentioend Freddie in a humorous way and I thought it would be funny to share. Take a look! link
YES! I thought the same thing! 79 was like a transition year. He had the shorter hair and got rid of the nailpolish, but still had the necklaces and leotards. The moustache wasn't even until later in 1980, I thought. Because he didn't have it for The Game's album cover shoot or CLTCL video. I thought that was a good look for him, though. Ah well...still got it's point across, I felt.
Ugh, I hate Calvin and Hobbes. Der, I'm a stupid kid that doesn't follow orders and has a stupid imagination and a stupid lion toy that I think is real, dumb dumbity dumb dumb!
I love PvP. And Real Life, Penny Arcade, White Ninja Comics, 8-Bit Comics and well...the list goes on and on.
au contrare, the artist got it right people!
u know he let the stash grow in 1980?
well a year before he didn't have it yet.
So he states the fact people wanted the his 79 look back with that joke :D
hehehe
Not quite.
There's a common joke, at least in the US (not sure about the other regions of the world), that when somebody does something fashionably disturbing, their friends say to them "xxx called, they want their xxx back."
For example. Say I were to wear a pair of acid-bleached Jordache jeans, a pair of Converse chucks, a white shirt that says "FRANKIE SAYS NO TO NUCLEAR WAR", and feather my hair up something awful. My friend, we'll call him Nathan, walks up to me and takes note of my appearance.
Nathan: "Holy hell, Lester, what are you all about?"
Lester: "What's wrong with it?"
Nathan: "Jordache jeans, chucks, Frankie Says No T-shirt, and feathered hair? This is 2004."
Lester: "I'm well aware."
Nathan: "OK, well, 1985 called, they want their fashion style back."
So a more appropriate joke for this comic strip would have been, "1984 called, they want Freddie Mercury back."
Why did I just spend ten minutes explaining one of the oldest jokes in the book? Sigh. 2:03pm called, they want me back.

Amen! I thought it was funny. It got the point across which was the important thing. Personally, I thought the kid asking who Tom Seleck and Freddie Murcury are was funny!
