Hey guys! If ya've been wondering where I've been for the past few weeks, I've been off the Internet and finishing my vacation at my mums, which ended on Monday (Aug 23rd), when I flew back home to Edmonton. I should be posting regularly again starting next week or the week after, which is about the same time I start my 2nd year of Grade 12 (and last year of High School - yay!) I'm actually not as excited about going back to school as I normally would be for a few reasons: my personal special needs assistant who has been with me for nearly 3 years had to go work at a different (junior?) high school. My school's social worker, who I was also close with, retired at the end of June. And what else, my homeroom teacher (who we actually call T.A. for Teacher Assistants, in reference to any homeroom teacher, at St. Joe's) from last year had to go work elsewhere as well. So a lot of people I know aren't going to be at school with me this year, which kind of makes me sad. On the other hand, while I went for registration this afternoon, I did get to meet my new T.A., who is also the vice-principal of the school (which means for me, having a principal of some sort as a homeroom teacher for the first time), and she's very nice. She even introduced me to the school's new student councillor, who is a very nice guy as well (he replaced last year's councillor, who also retired in June - I was friends with the last one on very good terms, but was not very close with him at all) Anyways, other than that... I finally got to watch most of the new laserdiscs I bought from AnimEigo, of the series "Urusei Yatsura" (Those Obnoxious Aliens). Those were movies 1, 3-5. I enjoyed movies 1, 5 and 6. I haven't seen movie 3 yet (will have to watch it tonight when I get home from the library), and movie 4 just did not make any sense to me, nor did it have any particular plot or meaning to it. The latter is one of my least enjoyable movies I've ever watched (next to What Lies Beneath, and Scream 3 - both of which I've seen at the cheap dollar theatres with my friend - I remember nearly falling asleep through Scream 3, it was THAT bad-slash-boring!) And I finally got a DTS filter installed in my computer, which means I can decode and split DTS 5.1 tracks into six seperate channels, so now I'm having lots of fun taking Queen 5.1 DTS remixes and doing tricks with them (and which also means I don't have to physically switch between the front speaker and rear speaker plug connections on the 5.1 sound card to listen to individual channels anymore) How were all your summer vacations, by the way? |

I was in Toronto last weekend at HMV and saw a Pokeman video with your name on it and instantly thought "Where is that guy?" Glad you had a good time. |

Welcome back, Inu. My summer vacation was quite eventful.. |

Welcome back darling. Oh how I missed you so. I don't get vacations unfortunately. Every day it's the same hell. Good luck at school. I used to get through my school days by writing. Constantly I was journalizing everything I thought. I managed to do some school work here and there, but mostly I talked to myself on paper until I could leave. Then I'd bring my notebook home, read what I'd written and throw it away. Those were fun times. |

Welcome back! Good luck with your school year ahead! ------------- "I used to get through my school days by writing. Constantly I was journalizing everything I thought." (I did the exact same thing! Started in the 5th grade, and didn't stop till I was 21. Only difference, I saved all mine. I love going back and reading them from time to time. I was a sick little monkey...LOL!) |

Thanks for the welcomes! Hey Matt, are you still interested in those DVD's? If you're not, that's fine :) |

Sorry, a late WB, but WB! Sweet Cat btw |
inu-liger 30.08.2004 15:03 |
Ah, thanks. But that cat's actually been put down nearly 3 months ago. When I get the chance, I'm going to upload a new picture of me and my mum's 3 cats (two of which are ragdoll cats, which are now my favourite breed of cats - we don't know what the third one is, lol!) |

Oh, and some other things happened, both during and after my vacation, that I haven't mentioned yet but I'll mention now. While I was on vacation, I finally got a copy of the new Pokemon movie "Jirachi Wish Maker", and I must say, it is honestly the best English dub I have ever heard! My only complaints is that two of the movie characters, Butler and Diane, kinda sound forced in their voices. And the video format is standard instead of widescreen, though, which really bugs me because I HATE standard! They kept the ending credits in letterbox though, and the bonus Pikachu short, called "Gotta Dance", was in widescreen as well, which is a first for both! (Every Pokemon movie, even with two different distributors - Warner Bros. and Miramax - was released on DVD in standard format, except here in Canada, there are some copies of the 4th movie in widescreen, but that is only in Canada, and even then they are extremely rare! And on the 5th movie DVD, the Pikachu short was letterboxed, while this new one is in pure widescreen!) But I still enjoyed it though. They even partially translated the original version's ending theme, "Chiisaki Mono" (The Small Thing), into a new version called "Make A Wish", which combines the original version with new English lyrics sung by some girl named Cindy Mizelle (who I can only recall from memory, has sung Backing Vocals on the last song on the 2BA Master soundtrack otherwise with Pokemon). The Gotta Dance feature also used the original version's main song, and even had new lyrics for the whole song! Other than that, my PC's power supply got fried last Friday night (no pun intended), because apparently the fan stopped working inside the power supply box, which would explain why I smelled something burning earlier that night (I thought it was the monitor, so I shut that off, but that was a major mistake, as I should have taken a closer look and sniff at my PC). So now I'm stuck with a dead PC until I can afford a new power supply. I have no jobs atm., and what with school starting and with my dad's girlfriend and her 3 boys living with us now (for quite a few months now), my dad can't afford my PC to be fixed for quite a while, because he has to pay for me and my sister's school fees (mine come to $224 CDN in total, with gr. 12 fees, bus pass, and yearbook). I'm going to go to a nearby community PC center though, and see if they have any spare power supply boxes though, and if I'm lucky maybe I could get my PC fixed soon this week. Other than that.....I'm still very tired, being sleeping for 12+ hours at a time this past week each day (that's a result of my sleeping habits from my vacation - I slept during the day, and stayed up during the night - a very bad habit IMO) I will post later sometime this week. Until then, take care you guys. And thanks again for the welcome backs! |

It's funny you talk about the new pokemon movie, I hadn't watched pokemon in years, and I saw one of the new movies on cartoon netork and I couldn't stop watching it I enjoyed it so much, it really is a great legitimate anime. |
inu-liger 30.08.2004 18:05 |
Yeah, I think honestly that Pokemon is a great anime in itself, not to mention it is also one of the more recent long running series (having premiered on Japanese TV first in 1997, and that's nearly 10 years now, give less than three years from now) I honestly prefer anime from Japan in the Japanese language w/ English subtitles. Sadly, I only have one of the Pokemon movies this way (and it's a bootleg DVD too - but a very good one as well!), but that's the least of my worries. Currently, I also just finished watching all the Urusei Yatsura movies I bought on laserdisc. I really enjoyed pretty much almost all of them except for movie 4, "Lum The Forever". That movie made absolutely no sense at all, nor did it have particular direction story-wise/plot-wise :( (That's one I'd consider to be a "cult" movie) But all the others are very good. My sisters enjoyed the first and last movies the most. Funnily enough, speaking of anime, I haven't watched Inu Yasha for quite a while (which, by the way, is supposed to end in Japan this September, sadly), and I'm stuck at episode 90-something out of 166 episodes in total (I think). My friend who got me into the series is getting me the third Japanese movie subbed from the Internet (though with my dead computer, there's no way I'll be able to watch it for a while) I haven't finished my other series Excel Saga. And I'm going to have to watch the latter again, because my friend gave me new copies of the episodes in better quality. And, speaking of cats as well, I'm not too fussed over the cat in my picture (whose name was Mustard) being dead. Damned cat kept biting me and kept getting sick, so my dad's gf had her put down. I honestly prefer my mom's cats. They're more well behaved, and the only thing that happened bad to me was that one of them, named Rocky (he's one of the two ragdoll cats), left an ugly scratch on my right hand accidentally while I was playing with him. Now I'm going to have quite a noticeable scar, as far as it seems :( But it's nice of you guys to feel sorry for the fact that I don't have a cat. I wish I could have taken one of mom's ragdoll cats home with me, if she didn't need them for business breeding purposes (and also, if it weren't for my dad and his gf saying we're not having anymore cats - we can't get anymore anyways because now my youngest sister has a new male hamster, named Jojo) And sorry to those who have to spend such a long time reading my insanely long posts. I'm not one to summarize my happenings and posts into two-three sentences (I'm more of a "detailed" person :) ) |

Señor Buttlick wrote: Did you finally piss away all of the Mc'D's cash???Yeah, and I regret it now, because there's a Queen tribute band coming here to Edmonton at the end of September, according to several of my friends and dad. Tickets apparently are in the $60's (CDN) But instead, I spent $60 US on the 5 laserdiscs, $60-$70 US on 3 LP's and 2 45's from Japan (soundtracks and singles from the same series as the LD's, "Urusei Yatsura"), $34 CDN on the Jirachi DVD, and almost all the rest on the one-way Greyhound bus fare from Edmnt. to Ontario (my mum paid for my flight back since I was to go back with my sisters at the end of my vacation - they joined me half-way through my vacation, which I wish they didn't...) Oh, and I had to pay custom duties on a package from the UK that had been valued at twice the actual value (which was supposed to be valued at 15 quid, but valued at 30 instead), which cost me about $20 CDN SO right now I'm going to be job hunting this week, and all other weeks from now until I can get a part time job (most places right now want people for day time, which I can't do until late June/early July at the earliest because of my last year of High School). |

My friend, who's been supplying me with as much of the animes I have as he can, just gave me a DVD-R with some new eps, the third IY movie subbed, and some other stuff. But my PC's still broken, so I'm still waiting for that to be fixed, unfortunately :( |
