Hey guys!! I was just wondering, what's your favourite Queen stages???.... you know, considering the lights, and everything....
I would say the one from the Magic Tour, but the one of the Rock In Rio festival is also beautiful...
The Earls Court rig rocked, with the crown above the stage. They also used it for the News Of The World tour, if I'm not mistaken.
Does anyone have any really good pictures of it for all to see?
I love the light rig from the Works tour and the cheesy oversized cogs as well. Interestingly, I enjoyed the bare bones Live Aid setup too: it proved that the band didn't always need an elaborate rig to steal the show!
haha I like the Works lighting rig too... but i love that neon (?) blue light above the stage on the Magic Tour..... you know,

PS.: yes, this is a HORRIBLE drawing of that light set hehehe
My cousin Joe was the lighting designer for Queen from January of 77 to May of 79. He designed the crown and the pizza oven rigs for those tours. So for me I'd have to say those two rigs and stages were my favorites. I remember as a kid seeing black and white shots of the stages as the crown was being constructed when he was visiting between tours and always thinking how cool it was for him to be working with a rock band. I think he worked the Austrailian leg of the Works tour as well. He said the Earls Court rig was so big that they had to cut it all up just to get it out of the venue. He has some great stories but doesn't talk much about those days now.
