I totally lost my respect for Jimmy Page after he allowed Sean 'Puffy' Combs to absolutely ruin 'Kashmir' and make a rap version of that song.
Wouldn't have been nearly as bad if he finally admitted that he worships satan.
I wonder what's worse?... Selling your soul to the lord of darkness, or selling your best music work to Puffy.
Page & Coverdale is quite good. The Black Crowes stuff is also excellent if you like Led Zep. But try and avoid No Quarter. I'dlike to hear some stuff by The Firm... Or Outrider or whatever it was called.
Avoid No Quarter? No way!! There is a lot of brilliant music on that disc! On the video (and soon DVD), the version of The Rain Song is the best ever.
Jimmy's soundtrack of Death Wish II is his best post-Zeppelin work, I think.
No Quarter is great at most points indeed! I've got everything Page released, but I do think there's not a great lot of realy good stuff in there...
-Lucifer Rising soundtrack: was never released officially so you can only get it on bootlegs. Can be hard to find but I doubt if it is worth the trouble in tracking it down. It's pretty awfull ;-)
-The Death Wish Soundtrack is absolute shite, in my opinion. But I don't like scores in general... so boring without the images...
-Outrider is not bad but not great either. Has some nice stuff but in total not too interesting
-Same goes for the two The Firm albums, Mean Buniness and The Firm; not bad but not great either
-No Quarter: like it a lot. But do get the video indeed as the cd is very very heavily edited!
-Coverdale and Page: I used to love this album. When it came out I played it to death! Unfortunately the thing with this one is that it didn't stand the test of time entirely. Sounds a bit outdated by now.
-The live album with the Black Crowes is okay too. Although I wonder if this is what you are looking for as it are nearly only Zepp-covers. Absolutely good renditions but none of them add up to the originals...
So if you want to get some Page stuff, I'd absolutely recoment No Quarter, Coverdale and the Crowes!
I respect Robert Plant as a solo artist much more than Jimmy Page. Plant tried to do something different and fresh while Page spent most of his time still trying to be Zeppelin.
