...If a guy is 20 and a girl is 15, is the age difference too big for dating at that age? In some countries this would even be against the law. But what do you think from a moral point of view? |
Mr.Jingles 20.05.2004 13:44 |
That reminds me of a 19 year old boy who was given charges for statuatory rape after he had sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. Both of them agreed to have sex, but when the parents found out that she did, the parents of the girl pressed charges against the boyfriend. A very fucked up situtation if you ask me. What do you guys think about this? P.S. There's nothing wrong with a 20 year old dating a 15 year old girl. Some say that relationships where there's too much age difference could lead to something bad. I think it depends on how mature both of them are. After all 15 and 20 are just numbers. |
Whisperer 20.05.2004 13:46 |
Yeah, that is simply terrible. It's just like the hooker who got fake money and when she was told that the money is fake she shouted "Oh my God! I have been raped" :-) |
MexQueenFM 20.05.2004 14:01 |
hmm, hard question, i'm in that position right now, the girl i like, she's 14, she even invited me to her "quince años" but i'm 19, it will be tough, but she doesn't care and i will not do anything to her, she's jail bait, i don't make sense , i know |
ilizarov 20.05.2004 14:02 |
I can understand 17, maybe 16, but come on, 14's just a kid! |
MexQueenFM 20.05.2004 14:03 |
"14's just a kid!" the other day I saw a 11 yr old and 12 yr old girls buying lingerie!! *shocked* damn, that was funny as well as weird |
Whisperer 20.05.2004 14:11 |
There are 14-year-old who look like they could be your mother. Still I think that 14 is too young, but 15 is ok. That one year is in most cases quit important (girl->young woman). |
Lisser 20.05.2004 14:14 |
In my opinion a 15 yr old shouldn't date a 20 yr old. But I would never condemn anyone who did it. It's not my business. I wouldn't allow my 15 yr old daughter to date a 20 yr old. I also wouldn't allow my 15 yr old son to date a 20 yr old woman. I just have to wonder what they would have in common. When I was 20, I was graduating from college. When I was 15 I had just gotten my driver's permit. So for me, that age gap is a little to large to have anything in common. You never know though. It is against the law where I live for a 15 yr old to date a 20 yr old anyway, not that it doesn't happen. You really can't choose who you fall in love with though I guess. |

Personally, that's too big of an age difference for me... 15 and 20. 15 and 17 are good! 15 and 16! 15 and 15! But once you get past 18, it's a different mentality... at least that's what I think. |
*the Time Guardian* 20.05.2004 14:58 |
I don't think that 5 years of age difference is that big deal. It's not a problem when 20 y old and 25 y old are dating But yeah, 15 is too young for 20 y old Still a child |
TheMiracle 20.05.2004 14:59 |
I'm in a situation where one of best friends, who is 15 years old, is dating a 19 year old, he turns 20 in two months. Personally I don't apporve of this cause its roughly a five year difference and I thinky my friend isn't mature enough for it. If they were both in their 20s I would see less of a problem with it. |
Daburcor? 20.05.2004 15:00 |
Not something I would go for, Being 20 myself. That would be like dating one of my sister's friends... NO THANK YOU !!! |

Science has proven that the teenage mind is still in crucial development until approximately age 16. Of course it varies by individual case, just as the onset of puberty for example. However to be safe, 16 is a good age to stick with. Prior to this time, these young people are experiencing all kinds of confusing changes, feelings, learning to become young adults. The introduction of a mature sexual relationship and the baggage that carries with it simply shouldn't be put upon them until they're past this stage. While they may think they want such a relationship, it's not a good idea to mix an adult who has completed this stage, with a young person who has yet to complete it. You have to get past the whole 'she looks older' nonsense. It holds no weight either psychologically or legally. |

"You have to get past the whole 'she looks older' nonsense. It holds no weight either psychologically or legally." Nicely said Gay Jeff. ;p |

It's a curve--the younger you are, proportionately the age differences will be greater, physically, mentally, etc. But once you reach 20's, I suppose, you are pretty much who you are. So 15 and 20 is a bit much. |

A 15 and 10 year old is a bad example. It's just wrong. |

Wonderful posts, Lisser, Gay Jeffrey, and RainMustFall. I agree with all of the points you have made. |

how do i get my posts to show up and when i registered? |

Queen4Ever - I think that was the point. Personally, I would apply something I was taught by a good friend of mine when I first got to know him. I was 16 at that time, and he was 20 or 21. There was and is nothing romantic or sexual in our friendship, but when we first met I was worried he would not talk to me once knowing my age. However he turned out to have a philosophy I like, namely that age doesn't matter. There are so many and big gaps between how people think. We have 20 year olds acting as mature as a 14 year old, and we have 14 year olds acting more maturely than adults. It's all about person. I would consider the case from how I know the persons involved, not purely from the number-difference in years. I've known 14 year olds and 15 year olds whom I don't think would fit with anyone from 18 and up. Then again I'm a trusted friend of the beforementioned 21 year old whom I met at 16, and personally I think I act SO much more mature than my own parents at the moment (their fucking their lives up and destroying each other). As a sidenote, I heard on the radio that British scientist have found that the average 14 year old girl is as mature as the average 20 year old guy. ;-) |

thanks Janet DAMMIT!! ;) I have to laugh at that bc I used to think my name was Lissa dammit. My name is Melissa but my mom always called me Lissa. When I did something wrong my name was Lissa Dammit. I hijacked the topic!! DAMMIT!! sorry, tee hee. |
Hitman 21.05.2004 07:27 |
uhmm...IMO it depends on "mental" age of the boy and the girl. It depends on where they live and the cultural circumstances of both of them, and it depends on what they want. (mostly what the 20 yo wants from this relation..he can cause some "damages") |
Brandon 21.05.2004 11:45 |
As people get older, age matters less. (IE noone would say or think anything negative about a 33 year old and a 28 year old couple.) But at such a young age it does matter and they are not "just numbers." |

All i gotta say is if you're in amaerica if you dont like your "freedom" then fire away... but then again some people just dont care so *shrug* |

LiveAidQueen 24.05.2004 18:19 |
I think that's not a good age difference |

My niece started dating her boyfriend when she was 15 and he was 21. My brother opposed it from the outset but her Mum.......put her on the pill! Fair enough, it's wise to take precautions but he was breaking the law, it's as simple as that. Her attitude was 'well, she's nearly 16' which ,to me and my brother, was unbelievable. She left home at 16 to live with him and to this day I have no idea what his real name is - we just call him 'Paedo'. |
MexQueenFM 25.05.2004 12:55 |
well, if anything under 20 is wrong then what about a 19 yr old and a 27 yr old? or a 19 yr old and a 43 yr old? is that wrong? |
