- Each member of the band owns whatever songs each one of them wrote as they were given the credit on the Queen albums?
- All members of Queen through Queen Productions?
The reason why I'm wondering this is why would they allow a classic like 'We Are The Champions' to be ruined in a Viagra commercial?
I wonder who made the decision to sell the rights of the song. Was it Brian?, Roger?, Jim Beach?
I remember seeing something about this kind of thing for WATC cover RW did. I remember reading something about "the estate of Freddie Mercury gave permission for such and such to cover the song.
My best guess would be the money might go to charity as well as the fam.
Adam.
the thing to remember ism, that although these songs are absolute classics, they dont NEED to make anymore money. If they want to they can, but they dont have to. They are very talented and if they by chance need money, there are a million places killing to have them play there.
If each member decides to give the rights for whatever songs they wrote individually, who makes the decision about Freddie's songs?
My guess is that Jim Beach, Brian, and Roger are the ones who decide. But who knows... perhaps it's Mary Austin who makes the decision. Besides, she's the one who gets most of Freddie's royalties.
