I am sorry if this has already been asked before (I was here) but I was wondering, did any of the members ever get arrested for anything during their carreer? Drugs, violence or whatever?
I have never heard or read anything about it....
Roger's been busted at least twice.
If there was an act they all should have been arrested for, it was not Hot Space, one of the best albums in the 80s. It was that Ford Nissan commercial.
I agree with Mandy there.
Selling a song like 'We Will Rock You' to a car company ad is indeed a sellout that puts them on the same level as Moby or Sting.
Phil Collins is awesome, but I have to admit I lost some respect for him when he allowed Nate Dogg to sample the melody of Phil's song 'Take Me Home' for a new hip-hop version.
This is the extract from the official biography, As It Began:
Roger, a keen fan of fast cars and motor racing, was invited to be a guest at the Monaco Grand Prix, an offer he had to accept. He went to Monaco with Crystal and Rick Parfitt, who was also a racing fan. Putting those three together was probably a mistake, as the sunshine, racing cars and a little too much wine resulted in Roger being arrested. It was nothing more serious that inebriated high jinks, but Jim Beach had to be summoned from holiday in Montreux to Monaco to pay the quite substantial fine to release him from jail. Then he had to get out of Monaco within a matter of hours, a condition of his release, and as there were no immediate flights out, Jim had to arrange for a chartered helicopter to collect them all.
Btw, Phil Collins is great! But Seriously has some great songs, sad but strong, full of emotions. And his voice is great too.
"Phil Collins is the man, man."
I agree. Face Value is an awesome album made all the more remarkable when you watch the Video “Classic Albums – Face Value” and hear the song “Please Don’t Ask” (a brilliant song which was left off the album) and the original version of “The Roof Is Leaking” which had Eric Clapton playing slide on the Dobro – stuff that Phil said himself that should have been kept on the album.
As for arrestments, I don’t know about Queen members other than those stated, but the Trident guys should have been!!
i think phil is a nice guy but i wouldn't even give my mother his cd for christmas because his stuff is so boring.
i love hot space and the hot space feeling
I love "Nevermind the Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols"!! You can't compare at all but I listen to it much more than to Hot Space, which I have actually never really listened to closely...
Sex Pistols were great. Can't listen to them all the time but from time to time they're fun listening to.
Not comparable to the CLASH who I could listen to 24/7 and who were one of the greatest bands ever!
Urrrrgh, I can't STAND the Pistols.
Okay, I'll use a different comparison :)
Ever sat through the full running of the White Stripes' "White Blood Cells"? At least an hour of cat-in-a-blender vocals.
