In 'The Eye' supplement with the UK Times on Saturday (20th December) Queen were featured in its "Magic Moments".
The feature looked at 200 'moments' under various categories and this was headed "Withnail reciting Shakespear to the wolves, Joy Division's Atmoshphere, "Bond, James Bond". As a seasonal treat THE EYE stops the clock on 200 timeless moments in popular culture.
Mmm you think, could Queen appear. Answer, yes in the most bizarre way and typically slagged.
The Queen entry was in a top 10 of "Messages from Outer Space" which included at number 4 "Ack Ack" from Mars Attacks!
Queen appeared at number 8 in this section under the heading "A Trip to Mercury" and here's what was said:
"Freddie Mercury channels the anguish of an astronaught who returns home after a year, to find his family have aged by a century. "Though I am older but a year, your mother's eyes from your eyes cry to me". So pretentious you could hear it from space. (Queen - 39, A Night at the Opera CD)"
Typical..........!
