Last I heard the record companies were only going after people sharing thousands of files, yet on Kazaa Lite (which I won't use anymore) I got a message today from CopyrightInfringement_Warning532 warning me to quit sharing files.
All I am sharing are about 40 files that are out-of-print (a few remixed videos I made, and some old scratchy vinyl ripped from 45s). I think it's just someone screwing with me, but I thought I'd warn you all.
I have noticed that Kazaa Lite gives a users a "rank" of activity (which record companies might look at), though other P2Ps don't. Somehow my rank got screwed up and said I had shared 1000 files after only uploading maybe 30...maybe that's why I got targeted.
I'm only sharing things that can't be bought in stores in the first place (and hardly any at that)...so I don't see how record companies could prove any monetary loss by my activities. Even if what I share was eventually released officially, it would be much better quality and people would most likely buy it again. It is so scary that big business is intimidating people to enter into settlements when no one has proven that anything illegal occurred.
(For the record, they were uploading the single version of Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" which isn't on CD, and was ripped from my 45 that's 23 years old lol)
"Don't worry too much, sharing files will go on forever,no matter what they do"
Hmm I'm not so sure. Take a look at the TCPA technology...
This is something we should worry about.
With the TCPA computers we can say farewell to our privacy and to the file sharing too.
“All I am sharing are about 40 files that are out-of-print”
Goinback, it doesn’t matter to record companies that the files you uploaded are out of print, it’s the fact that you have breached copyright laws to recordings that they own. But like L-R-TIGER1994 says file sharing will go on no matter what they try to do.
