Has anyone seen this before?
It's different from the standard USA Classic Queen release.
I don't think it's anything special, but just wondered if the purists out know of this promo release?
Yes it was capitol records promo or something like promo, it was released in 1989.
In 2009-2010 a serious collector was selling a promo cd with Queen ballads (not confused with a 90s bootleg). It was to be released during late 90sby parlophone.
Just another compilation of what we have already got.
Not bothered i have not got that Cd,
Time we had something fresh from Queen productions or have they all fell asleep?
If I remember correctly this album has a different mix of Under Pressure, mixing the "people on streets" background-lyric much louder, among some other minor differences.
SUNNIVABITCH! had I known it was legit I would've picked it up. I'd seen that one around maybe 8+ years ago. cheap as well.. unlike the ROCKS COLLECTION promos... which rate about $20 a piece
Had no idea it was Legit. Looked fake
That is interesting. In 1992, i bought Classic Queen on holiday in Vancouver. It's a Hollywood records release and has a completely different tracklist which is:
AKOM
BO RHAP
UP
HTF
SCC
ONE YEAR OF LOVE!
RGG
IGSM
IWIA
TYMD
TM
TATDOOL
OV
KYA
HEADLONG
WWTLF
TSMGO

That's the one I grew up with. It was pretty common in North America.
Great memories.

Not sure about this 1989 disc, but that one was on the 1992 Classic Queen release.
I wouldn't call them "minor" differences - there's a lot more guitar, and the EQ has it sounding much more crisp. To my ears it's a far better mix (apart from "that's OK" missing in the first verse).
We had a thread about it a few months back when the 24 track master came out, and pretty sure we came to the conclusion that Brian and Roger have never spoken about it. It sounds like a mix the two of them may have done around the time.

I always wondered why songs like WWRY, WATC, CLTCL and AOBTD were omitted from the album but then I realised that this album was released around the same time as the 1992 reissue of Greatest Hits which itself omits Bohemian Rhapsody and KYA which were included on the original 1981 US version.
Back in 1981 Hollywood records could not re-release Greatesthits 1981 since Elektra records owned the rights of this version collection .
Also Hollywood records could not release Greatest Hits 2 UK version, since they don't have release 1. Finally they came up with the idea to release most tracks from 80s and 90s plus Bohemian Rhapsody and few others from 70s.
Due to Freddie's death and Wayne's world Classic Queen was released and it was successful collection.
Few months later they released their version of Greatest Hits, this time with few different songs and order than the original US Greatesthits 1 in 1981.

That’s an irrelevant album.
The standalone TYMD was very welcome back in 1992.
I have a copy of this in my collection. When I got it, it was a pretty easy to find CD. There's nothing special other than what was previously mentioned... a few mixing differences, etc.
Thx for your replies.
I have both the standard USA Classic Queen release (Hollywood) and this promo USA Classic Queen release (Capitol). The Under Pressue alt. mix (without Freddie's "that's OK" vocls) is on the standard Hollywood release. That mix is not what's on the promo Capitol release.
So otherwise, it is looking like money for old rope.
I'm digging thru my old collection and cleaning out duplicates etc. So thank you for helping me clarify what I do have. If I find anything unique, I will share it here as the highest quality rip.
I hope you are all keeping well.

Yes and no. People who bought all the albums are unlikely to buy such compilations.
And especially since most of these songs hadn't been on previous compilations, it's simply a way of attracting new fans/customers who aren't in the regular album buying crowd.
Pretty standard fare since the 1970s.
