350+ dead.
Easter day. Worshipers inside multiple churches were the main target.
Well planned, coordinated and executed in cold blood. In our part of the world we have not seen such an attack in sometime. Used to be a common occurrence about 5 years or so ago. Things have been quite for sometime (except Pakistan where it is still a everyday event).
So it came as a jolt to all of us in South Asia, not only Lankans.
CC TV footage shows one of the suicide bombers even slightly caressed a little girls hair in the compound of the church inside which he blew himself up shortly thereafter.

What religion do you assign the Christchurch-massacre to?
Christchurch was a lone-wolf attack by a racist bigot. Religion of the attacker was not as important, as he did not do it because he was not inspired by the teachings of his religion (evidently).
The Sri Lanka bombings were planned and executed by a group of people across multiple countries. They were all united, motivated, inspired and trained under the teachings of a particular radical school of a particular religion.
Both very serious crimes, but not a fair comparison. You could compare the Christchurch attacks with the regular attacks on minorities that happen practically everyday in the Islam-dominant countries. But you won't, possibly because those don't get similar coverage in the media so you may not be aware.
Here's the hypocrisy of the West- after the Christchurch bombings, "white supremacists" from even US and Europe were brought under spotlight and criticized in the media.. But after the Sri Lanka bombings, no one seems to be addressing the elephant in the room. And if someone does, others don't let them. In this thread itself, 2 out of 3 replies were to oppose the one reply that directed attention towards Islam.
Why does everyone treat Islamic terrorists with kid-gloves?

Not REALLY fair. That's like saying after an American school shooting something like "white men strike again".
Something to that effect is indeed said every time an American school shooting happens, if the perp is a white kid (which it almost always is). That, and the usual debate on gun control.
But even the mention of extremism in Islamic teachings is taboo.

The Knights Templar are a very religiously motivated group.
It seems like you are on your own little crusade here.
Nobody is treating "Islamic terrorists" with kid-gloves, but you are obviously biased. Call it as it is and stop treating Christian nutjobs with kid-gloves. ;)
They are all the same: they kill for their ideology.

Not that taboo anymore.
Terrorism isn't a muslim problem.
Terrorism has always been a political tool through the ages.

When there is a white-supremacist/mass shooting incident, how many times do you bring in comparisons with Islamic terrorism? How many times do you see others doing that comparison?
Vice-versa happens every-time.
Islam is an evil, vicious faith. Not even a religion really, just a very dangerous, brainwashing cult. I'd be quite happy to see it disappear from the UK and the rest of the planet.
