2004 and at a old age of 17 ( getting into music wise) It was the very first time I listened to Boh Rhaps, My mate downloaded it on the good old limewire. Trying to get me onto music... I was hooked on to this song and this band Queen and this song was... probably killed.. by listening to it every sing day at least 5 times a day.... Today on the radio Boh Rhap was played and it had felt like ages ( Like almost a year since I have last listened to it.) Still love the song and when it is played on radio, i always turn up the radio. But.. It seems like it's only now on the radio that i listen to this song. I hardly ever seek out this song, nor do I pick it for my play list. Guess on my journey to discovering Queen. I have now found my new favourites, Liar, Oger Battle, Father to son and even My fairy King are and have been my favs for a long while now, songs i could easily listen to and never get bored of them.. Infact, I've now probaly played them more as separate songs than I have Bohem Rhap. Its actually, for me, dropped some way down the list to the point of it not really giving much thought as a Queen song that i can be bothered to listen too. I remember Brian had this to say about WWRY/WATC He mentions how surreal it feels to hear these songs especially at their peak which carries on still to this day and how he feels, along with the many average fans, like those songs have just appeared out of nowhere. The same is sorta the same for Boh Rhap for me.... Although Boh Rhap has the Queen trade mark written all over it, as aspposed to the two punch sport anthems. It feels like a surreal song that appeared out of the mist, written by my fav band but it's just not the same song that I look for, when looking for a Queen song to play nor comes to mind as a 'stand out' Queen song. To all of those hardcore Queen fans out there..... Bohemian Rhapsody.... Especially those who were apart of the Queen journey from the first album and when you first heard this song, did you fall in love with this song? Did all the other songs you loved and the first three albums all of a sudden, get the shuntt??? Our generation who started with this song who now have listened to every single Queen song ever made and are now the next gen Hardcore Queen fans. Where dose this song sit with you guys..... Does it still come up fist on your thoughts when you select a Queen song to play are you bored of it ? Is it still a highly regarded song that still has relevance in your every day Queen listening lives...? Be interesting in hearing your journey with this Famous Queen song and where it still sits as a Queen song in your life. |

As a rule I never listen to the big hits from GH1. When they do pop up they feel totally untarnished by time and they fill me with the same joy I first felt discovering them as a little chap. |

I do regard the lesser known songs every bit as good as the hits, the Fairy King/Blacks Queens of the world. That's why I consider them an album not singles band. |

My first Queen album was Queen2 and i was hooked, it was a very special album and a taster of what was to come in Bohemian Rhapsody! I was with Queen from Seven seas of Rhye onwards to 1991. I still collect exclusive proper Queen releases but not gimmicks. |

^ Happystar When ANATO came out or when you first heard Boh Rhap. We're you excited with the product and the future installed with being a Queen fan Or were you sort of comparing the album with the first two you got, like Metallica fans and the black album, was there ever a moment when you felt that Queen were ever "selling out" |

I guess by the time ANATO came out along with SHA . Most people knew that this band was going to be different and never do the same thing. But was there ever an moment where you guys would have been quite happy if they stuck with the QI QII SHA formula with hard hitting songs? Or felt like their initial direction with parts SHA of ANATO was a little too... different to your liking? |

It was hearing new versions of the older stuff that makes me rekindle me love. Hearing the live Fairy Fellers for the first time back in 2014 genuinely made me feel 10 again. Same with the WATC raw version. Like hearing it for the first time again. More plz QPL. |

I remeber I was so gutted when I asked mum for Queens greatest hits for my birthday in 2004 and was so gutted when she gave me Queens greatest hits 2 and I was like... wtf are these songs. I don't know any of them, where is ANBTD and "the whole reason for GH1..." Boh Rhap.... Then I fell in love with those powerful hard hitting 80s Songs Queen did, then I got the GH1 and was a little let down.... Felt the songs were weak and not so inspiring.... For a teenager those powerful songs helped alot. Then dabbling deeper into the world of Queens hidden gems and finding MOTBQ and Liar.... Then taking the gamble with QI and QII. I never went back to their 80s Songs... it is only now that i can appreciate the hits of Magic and well... I love bass and I can now appreciate Raido gaga. But yeah it all stems from Boh Rhap but for listening to it... its never ever really come to my thoughts anymore I appreciate songs now like Gaga alot more. |

^Metallica. What I was meaning... I was a typical Metallica fan who loved the black album when I first got in to them not long after Queen... didn't know what all the hype was about regarding "true " fans hating that album... Then listening to Ride the lightning and Kill em all and was like wow!!! Now I can understand the whole sell out thing... and cliff Burton.... Was there ever the same feeling amongst queen fans at the time...? For example m QI QII fans and when hit orientated albums started appearing... wass there a huge feeling of alienation? ( that decade where Led Zep was staunchly against hits where as other bands was all about getting a lable and releasing hits) |

I was there for the Metallica thing....was a huge fan from 1986 to 1989 then started waning on them. The Black Album came out and never liked it, aside from maybe 3 or 4 songs. Gave it away. I think for Queen their version of The Black Album is The Game. That's where they simplified things and the older fans of the early years felt alienated, but made loads of new fans in the process. I still dislike The Album and any other post Justice album. I simply can't stand Metallica anymore. The first 3 I still love though. |

Its probaly a great example of what a certain musician can bring to a band. Kill em all probaly made good cause Dave Mustaine was a good song writer then Cliff Burton came along and brought a whole new dimension to song composer as he was trained/schooled in reading music. He died and Metallica never was truly the same again. Justice was good but it did lack that something compared with Puppets. Bit like equivalent to Day at the races. They tried keep that same blueprint but races was good Justice just lacked a direction long guitar solos but yeah just goes to show what a musician can bring to a band. Then you after that and Mutt trying to add his influence to the group.... They are what they are. A good band but just missing that something that Dave brought to Kill em all/Ride the lightning and Cliff brought to Ride the lightning and Master of Puppets |

I guess the one advantage queen had was the decade and the group's that were in that decade as in, groups of the 70s such as led Zep and Floyd and even Bowie before QUEEN, each and every album was different. So Queen could also do the same without losing too many fans as that was expected for that era in music... It was a art really. |
mike hunt 26.07.2018 03:21 |
I agree, Justice was pretty good, but was a bit long and the songs were repetitive for my liking. Puppets was the last one I loved. I saw them in 86 opening for ozzy, and they were young and hungry, like Queen were in 1974. |
mike hunt 26.07.2018 03:26 |
Yea, Cliff was great. I was a young buck when I heard the news of his passing. |

Fras444 When i first heard ANATO i was blown away because it sounded so polished and new particularly DOTL and SL were my favourites but SR was very appealing with Freddie on rag time piano! |
