I hope Rami keeps his eyes closed most part of the film :-) No, really, I wish him the best of lucks. Liked him very much in Mr. Robot season 1, but can't see him as Freddie yet. It's a shame Sasha Baron Cohen jumped the boat. He was the perfect choice and would have loved a more dramatic and private aproach to Freddie's persona, like we saw in the Johnny Cash or Ray Charles biopics, for instance. Dont know what to expect now: looks like this is not a Freddie biopic anymore, but a portrait of the band and a celebration of their music. |
Dr Magus 06.09.2017 09:03 |
Sasha Baron Cohen is far too tall to play Freddie anyway. He'd be ideal to play Frank Zappa though. |

Looks a bit young, but on the other hand, Sacha would probably look a bit old for the part, especially by now. No major hopes for the movie though. I have a feeling it will be a nice, polished product. The tranquility of "Made in Heaven" as opposed to the drama of "Innuendo". A bit strange they also appear to have disregarded the final years completely. |
Wiley 06.09.2017 21:08 |
Does anybody else think that on the back of their heads they're thinking they might be even doing a sequel? That is, have this movie be Queen's origins and end on a high note with Queen "back on top of the world" and then follow up with Freddie's last days and all that drama. I would not but this beneath them. If anything, we should be getting a really cool Breakfast-Club-style montage of them recording Bohemian Rhapsody, showcasing Freddie's genius and having a great time together. I'm calling it first! |

I can see another positive to all this. (*depending on your point of view) ...we're bound to see dozens of kids donning John Deacon's "fro" and bass :-) For real now. Let's get a QUEEN premiere/opening night get together happening. That way we can all get loaded and bitch and whine etc all night. Preferably with a day or two off afterward. Also everybody has to come dressed as a band mate and PREFERABLY *NO REPEATING! !!** so. .who ever has the big bucks will likely be Fred in IAHL....whoever has less can be Freddie with striped shorts and suspenders I'm thinking I'd like to try GAGA Deacon. ..I'm not sharp enough to pull off his 77-79 sharp thin tie look and i have too much hair....and i don't want the FWBF "GOLDEN GIRLS" perm look either. Might do well as the inner fold of QUEEN II John Deacon....i can look like a drag Queen Bea Arthur. Any one else in SO CAL? |

....weve got at least a year.... maybe show up at the premiere; get in Free Ninety Nine (*unlikely but worth a try if we're a big enough QUEEN crowd) Oh...and we have to draw a random lottery on who gets to be "THE LOSER IN THE END" (*likely a guy from Freddie ' s Birthday bash. ....with ass less chaps and clown regalia) |

I think it's stunning! I hope we're not all going to criticise every flaw; in the main pic he captures the essence of Freddie on stage. Can't ask for more than that at this stage He's an actor doing his job and from the available pics, doing it rather well Queen have assembled a good cast, an excellent director, it's a movie. Let's suspend our disbelief and enjoy when it happens |

^ I'm still supporting the viewpoint that it looks like shit **(voiced by another on page one) But this is concept art. Clearly artificial and run through dozens of filters etc. Whatever he'll bring he'll bring as a student of Freddie from film, books, broadcasts etc. Hopefully he'll do a great job. If anything bothered me it was his Vag-Eyes. Thankfully Freddie wore plenty mascara. However i believe he'll pad down the chuckle, the mirth and quietness as well of Freddie. I have NO clue about ANY of the other choices....and I've thought that all the XMEN films besides LOGAN were pieces of cgi crap with no flow, feel, motive or direction. ...so that said. If it's crap.....i hope it's LEGENDARILY BAD! If it's great, I hope it's fantastic and a bit personal |

I've been almost indifferent to the movie all along. Projects like these are bound to let down the die hard fans. Judging from the two pictures; he seems to have the moves down! |

People on here are so negative. We have seen a couple of early pics, and that is hardly anything to go by at all. They are not even filming yet! It feels like some loves to be negative just for the sake of it. If anyone expects that everything is going to be 100% true to reality you will be very disappointed. It is a movie folks, not a documentary. I had to laugh when someone pointed out that the colour of the jeans werent the exact same. Oh please. One thing is for sure, I will not read anything on here when the movie gets its premiere. I want to watch it before being affected by the doom and gloom party that undoubtly will take place here. "Freddies beer on the piano was paler at Live Aid. Disaster!" He probably didnt have any beer on the piano at the day anyway. But who cares? For me Malek can do the role without dressing up at all. And although normally a biopic has many real life events, almost everything is "dramatized", meaning that it has a pinch of salt to it, and can even have scenes that never happened in the first place. One character can even be a portrait of 3 ou 4 real life people. That's why this kind of movies have a "this movie was based in real-life events" (or something similar) in the final credits. The crucial word here is BASED. Sorry for the double post. F**** buggy forum. ps: Who will play Bono in the Live Aid scenes? xD |

Something bugs me about Rami but I can't quite put my finger to it. He doesn't possess the command of the stage very well, he looked more like a poser, going through the motions. His overall look, his eyes in particular is just deadpan. His actions in the video were cringy - why was he waving his hands like a toddler? Freddie was throwing punches! The coach working with him on mastering Freddie's mannerisms should be fired! Joseph Mazzello, on the other hand, really nailed John's look very well. |

Let's hope this is (and I'm sure it is) just a rehearsal for the main shoot and things will improve. Rami is a great actor but I think the Aussie feller from the Channel 5 doc would of been better - Rami will pull the punters in though because of who he is. |
cmsdrums 10.09.2017 10:57 |
Marc Martel has mimicked Freddie in a new studio recreation of the Live Aid audio purely because the original Live Aid audio is only available in a poor quality stereo mix and clearly not good enough to use in the film. It would be interesting to find out who is playing drums, bass and guitar for this recreated audio - have Brian and Roger recorded their parts? I doubt it, so I'd like to know which musicians have been used. |

I think people on here are too harsh on Malek. There's little to judge him by at this point. Sure there are people who look more like Freddie, but is a lookalike what people want? Malek certinly resembles Freddie, from what I've seen now. If that's coupled with great acting, then I'm sure the final result will be good. as for the live aid audio, hopefully that's down to the source material being sub standard. Fingers crossed that the rest of the film will feature Freddie's voice |
