Did anyone see the article Queen on FB shared to celebrate The Miracle being 28 years old yesterday? Released in 1979 and we all knew Freddie had AIDS then. Anyway, made me feel nostalgic for The Miracle. Great memories. Good days. Solid album. Great associated mixes and B sides. |

"The Miracle being 28 years old yesterday? Released in 1979 and we all knew Freddie had AIDS then." I doubt Freddie had AIDS then ('79) and not sure why you introduced it here. Perhaps it's just a typo. It's a good, positive album. |

Yep - love The Miracle. Plenty of diversity across styles of music on here and the wealth of B-sides, 12" mixes and unreleased material that has leaked makes it the most productive period for the band. Was It All Worth It I Want It All Hijack My Heart |

Durrrrr '89. Am I missing something here ? |
dysan 24.05.2017 10:36 |
@k_m: That's what the article said. I was highlighting the sloppy approach Queen take to their history. |

Jeeeez the error is still live now. Screen grab: |

Ftr: it was originally called THE INVISIBLE ....HIJACK MY HEART After a song written by Bassist Brian Taylor |

There is hardly ever an official Queen press release, write up or review that isn't riddled with inaccuracies and errors. Sadly the laziness or lack of attention to detail often permeates through to the end products too. |
dysan 24.05.2017 13:43 |
The fact there's been about 400 people posting corrections under it and it's still not been addressed. Sloppy defending (Alan Hansen voice). |

On reflection, obviously WIAWI is fantastic and there's a few other parts of the album that totally do it for me (May is nuts throughout the record) but I think the best bit of the songs from the sessions is where the Mustapha piano comes in on HOIT. |

Sebastian 25.05.2017 06:49 |
If it was released in 1979, then maybe it was originally called 'Live Killers.' |
dysan 25.05.2017 12:07 |
Roger said the only thing live on Live Killers was the bass drum. The irony is that the only thing NOT live on The Miracle is the bass drum. Or something. Need work. |

The album was ok, typical ups and downs of 80's Queen. I remember back then in 89 I was a classic Rock and Metal fan, so when I heard the miracle It was a huge let down. I was listening to the first records back then, so I thought it was some kind of Joke when I heard Party opening the album. I liked 3 songs I Want It All, was it all worth it and the title track. These days I have more of an open mind, so some songs grew on me like Breakthru and Scandal. Even Rain Must Fall has some nice things about it. |
dysan 26.05.2017 00:56 |
Agreed. I think I liked it at the time primarily because for the first time since I'd been a fan, my friends had actually heard of Queen and were considering getting it. I can't recall that happening for AKOM, but 3 years is a long time when you're 10. But secretly would cut myself listening to MBDM. |

Thanks for the link. Three points: 1) John Deacon's shirt in that video is SO 1989. 2) The presenter's tits. |

As Queen fans we are spoilt I feel. Most bands in the world wouldnt make songs like "I want it All", "Breakthru", "The Miracle", "Was It All Worth It", "Scandal" in an entire career! |
matt z 27.05.2017 18:15 |
While we're on the subject of THE MIRACLE (album) there seems to be misappropriated information about Freddie and John's like/dislike of metal music. The Wikipedia page once again sources "Freddie and John's like of metal music" as a possible connection to Derek Riggs' claim that Queen stole the album artwork concept from his single work for IRON MAIDEN'S "the clairvoyant"; while at the same time, the same type of quote is used in yet another article to state that Freddie and John had a DISLIKE toward metal music and consequently did not like songs like GIMME THE PRIZE because of this. What a bunch of crud. These articles change wildly from time to time. Also. .in another thread someone claimed that John did rhythm guitar on "PARTY" is there a source confirming this? It doesn't sound John -ish |
dysan 28.05.2017 02:31 |
I did. It's the second guitar that comes in right at the end. 2.05 - 2.12. Def Deaks. You can almost hear his ball popping out his shorts. |
matt z 29.05.2017 17:43 |
Ah. You mean the almost "invisible man" riffing going on. Cha cha boogie? Before "goodbye goodbye goodbye goodbye the party is O------...."? |

Yeah, the one going donk duh donk duh duh duh donk |
adrian b 31.05.2017 05:53 |
First queen album I bought on release and thought it was the bees knees at the time, went back to windows for a whole lot more. Could never get away with the first two songs, bsides at best for me. Remember a friend reading the nme and him commenting on the invisible man advert, him wishing they were effing invisible... He likes the smiths and Jesus and Mary chain, enough said |
Mark_Glasgow 31.05.2017 08:55 |
This was the first album they released where I remember being so disappointed when I played it. Having heard the first single IWIA and reading that it was a return to their RnR roots, I had great hopes after the mess of AKOM. But after hearing songs like the Invisible Man, Rain Must Fall, Party and the title track I felt let down. I can't remember the last time I listened to it and have no real urge to do so. |
adrian b 02.06.2017 03:22 |
It sounds dated for sure, glad that innuendo was such a better record, |
dysan 02.06.2017 03:58 |
I agree to a point. But I enjoy this one much more. |
dysan 03.06.2017 15:05 |
I stuck on Breakthru today for the first time in ages and really listened. What a brilliantly constructed song. Also - you know that sample that sounds like a distorted voice saying 'eat it'? I keep hearing it and I have a feeling it's on every track on the album. |
Saint Jiub 03.06.2017 16:42 |
This "summery" album helped me through some dark times. I am a sucker for Queen songs where John's bass is prominent: Consequently, The Invisible Man, Breakthru, and Rain Must Fall are in my top 20 of Queen songs, and I also regard Khashoggi's Ship highly as well. |
Dim 04.06.2017 15:05 |
I like to Listen The miracle, Innuendo and Made in heaven. Something like trilogy. This make s these albums conected in a musicality way. I Love the songs like kashogi's ship, the miracle, I want it all, was all worth it. And also love the guitar on my Baby does me and Rain must fall. Woth to mention the remix of scandal and breakthru are great. |
Dim 04.06.2017 15:06 |
The title tracks is so beautiful. I understand why Brian loves it |

oops |

Always listen to The miracle in the summer. It has that vibe and it kicks ass. The 12 inch" scandal version does rule and anyone who puts it down sucks and can kiss it. There are some weaker songs obviously but who gives a crap. When the sun shines and i'm driving in great sunny war weather, this is the record I listen to. |
The Real Wizard 05.06.2017 14:41 |
What's this remix of Scandal people are mentioning? The 12" version, or some fan mix? |

Yeah the Scandal 12" is great. But then I don't have too much trouble with the original. In Summer '89 that sounded fantastic. |

Bump some of these back to the top |

It dawned on me recently that this is Queen's children's album. The bulk of the songs cover simplistic almost children's story themes (TM, IWIA, TIM, B, RMF, MBDM, WIAWI) with simple language. Perhaps that's why the fruity lyrics in Party jarr. I'd even say KS is for kids. The big bad sucker line is just the right side of naughty for a kid to go wooah far out! Although Innuendo has it's rather silly moments, it's a much more adult album in the telling of the themes within. |
TheAdmiester 22.06.2017 10:01 |
Someone else said it's a summery album, I totally agree with that and I have no idea why. I dunno if it's because it was a summer release, the bright blue sky on the album cover, or the imagery they have in the music videos (since after all they were all filmed around Summer 1989), but there's something that feels so good about it. Breakthru is definitely my ultimate summer song, and the video probably has something to do with that. It's just perfect for that kind of warm 7-8pm fading light on a summer day. |
dysan 22.06.2017 10:15 |
Yeah it's a nice thread that's been running through the discussion. |
